Job Description

This is a hands-on technical leadership role requiring deep software engineering and Sitecore expertise. You will help define the technical direction, translate business opportunities into scalable solutions, and lead products from concept and experimentation through production deployment. You will remain actively engaged in solution architecture, design and code reviews, technical problem-solving, and the development of prototypes and complex components.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a globally distributed engineering team through hands-on technical leadership, performance management, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Define and execute the long-term technical strategy for the Sitecore platform, including software architecture, security, scalability, reliability, process automation, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Partner with Product Owners and business stakeholders to translate business needs into technical requirements, solution architectures, delivery plans, and actionable engineering tasks.
  • Design and implement resilient, scalable architectures that maintain application availability and minimize downtime.
  • Remain actively involved in solution design, code and architecture reviews, troubleshooting, performance optimization, refactoring, and resolution of complex technical issues.
  • Provide technical guidance to software engineers and establish development standards and engineering best practices.
  • Evaluate new technologies and recommend improvements to the platform, architecture, development processes, and delivery model.
  • Develop work breakdown structures, delivery schedules, resource plans, and budget estimates for complex software development initiatives.
  • Communicate technical decisions, trade-offs, project status, risks, dependencies, and priorities effectively to engineering teams, business partners, customers, and senior stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the complete software development lifecycle, from architecture and design through development, testing, deployment, and production support.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in software development and application maintenance, including significant hands-on experience with Sitecore XP, XM, or XM Cloud.
  • Demonstrated experience leading software engineering teams, including globally distributed teams.
  • Strong knowledge of Sitecore platform architecture, including:
    • Data models, templates, layouts, and components
    • Sitecore JavaScript Rendering SDK (JSS)
    • Sitecore Content Serialization
    • Sitecore configuration and content management
    • Personalization and analytics capabilities
    • SQL Server and Solr integrations
    • Headless Sitecore development
    • Sitecore XM Cloud
  • Proficiency in Sitecore development using C#, .NET, Next.js, React, GraphQL, and PowerShell.
  • Experience developing custom Sitecore modules and components and integrating Sitecore with external APIs, analytics platforms, and enterprise systems.
  • Strong understanding of JavaScript (ES6+), React, Next.js, CSS, HTML5, browser compatibility, and responsive web development.
  • Hands-on experience with version-control platforms such as Git or Bitbucket, automated testing, deployment strategies, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented design, software architecture principles, development processes, and engineering best practices.
  • Experience translating high-level business requirements into solution designs, technical requirements, and actionable development tasks.
  • Experience delivering software using Scrum and Agile development methodologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting, performance optimization, code-review, and refactoring skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives, balance competing priorities, and keep teams focused on the work that delivers the greatest business value.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, including experience working with business partners, senior leaders, and external customers.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to evolving technologies, platforms, and development practices.
    Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience integrating Sitecore applications with content delivery networks.
  • Hands-on experience migrating web applications from Sitecore XP or XM to Sitecore XM Cloud.
  • Experience architecting and building new applications on Sitecore XM Cloud.
  • Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Kiro, or Claude and their integrations with development environments.
  • Relevant Sitecore certifications.
