Lumentum is seeking a Process Engineering Manager to lead a team responsible for developing, transferring, integrating, and sustaining semiconductor manufacturing processes. This role will guide technology-development programs from early process development through qualification and production release, while driving yield, defectivity, process capability, manufacturability, and cycle-time improvements.
The ideal candidate is a technically strong leader with advanced academic training, extensive semiconductor fabrication experience, and a proven record of developing and transferring new semiconductor technologies into manufacturing.
Role and Responsibilities: - Lead, mentor, and develop process engineering teams with a range of skills and experience.
- Define and execute process-development strategies for new devices, process modules, technology nodes, and products.
- Lead root-cause investigations for process excursions, integration issues, device-performance gaps, and reliability concerns.
- Partner with Integration, Equipment Engineering, Yield, Manufacturing to resolve technical challenges.
- Define improvement strategies in yield, defectivity, process capability, reliability, manufacturability, cost, throughput, and cycle time.
- Support technology transfer from development or pilot lines into high-volume manufacturing.
- Oversee process qualification, change control, risk assessment, and production-readiness activities.
- Communicate technical results, risks, schedules, and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Promote a culture of safety, scientific rigor, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications and Education: - Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related technical discipline.
- 5 or more years of experience in semiconductor process engineering, process integration, technology development.
- Demonstrated experience leading semiconductor technology-development programs from development through qualification, transfer, or production ramp.
- Experience managing, mentoring, or technically leading process engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of semiconductor unit processes, process integration, device performance, and manufacturing interactions.
- Experience using semiconductor process and manufacturing data to improve yield, capability, and technology performance.
- Strong project-management, communication, prioritization, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a cleanroom environment and support a 24/7 manufacturing operation when required.
