The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Manager, Mental Health & Counselling Services to provide leadership, clinical oversight, and strategic direction to YSM's mental health programs. This role will oversee program development, staff supervision, and external partnerships to ensure high-quality, accessible, and impactful mental health services aligned with YSM's mission and model of care.

YSM's Mental Health & Counselling Services support chronically poor adults, families in need, and vulnerable youth through low-barrier counselling, psychiatry partnerships, and community-based mental health programming. Our goal is to address mental health barriers and empower individuals toward stability, healing, and long-term well-being.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage YSM's mental health programs, including counselling services, psychoeducational groups, and low-barrier access points such as walk-in and drop-in clinics.
  • Design and implement population-specific mental health strategies that respond to the needs of adults, families, and youth.
  • Provide clinical supervision to staff, interns, and volunteer clinicians, ensuring compliance with professional standards (CRPO, OCSWSSW) and best practices.
  • Recruit, onboard, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee program evaluation, data tracking, and reporting using systems such as Salesforce and TIMESTR to measure outcomes and impact.
  • Manage departmental planning, budgeting, and alignment with organizational priorities and funder requirements.
  • Support staff in managing complex and high-risk cases, including crisis situations and safety planning.
  • Build and strengthen external partnerships within the mental health sector (e.g., hospital partners, community networks, and collaborative tables).
  • Represent YSM in external forums and contribute to broader systems-level collaboration and advocacy.
  • Contribute to organizational life through meetings, spiritual practices, and cross-departmental collaboration.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counselling, or a related field.
  • Registration in good standing with one of the following: College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) or Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW)
  • Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience, including leadership or management of clinical teams.
  • Strong clinical supervision experience and knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic practices.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations, including individuals experiencing poverty, trauma, and complex mental health needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs, manage staff performance, and oversee service delivery.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in high-pressure environments.
  • Experience with program evaluation, reporting, and data systems (e.g., Salesforce) is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and sectors.
  • Commitment to YSM's mission, Christian values, and faith-based identity (including signing YSM's Articles of Faith & Doctrine).

Compensation: YSM offers market competitive rates and will pay a starting salary of $85,000.00 for this role, combined with a comprehensive suite of benefits and perks.
