Overview

Who we're looking for

Toyota Financial Services is seeking an Engineering Operations Manager to enable scale, quality, and predictable delivery across multiple scrum teams. This role is a hybrid Quality Leader, Release Coordinator, and Agile Enablement Lead, responsible for improving engineering outcomes without becoming a bottleneck.

The ideal candidate is someone who understands how modern engineering organizations operate, can influence without authority, and brings structure, transparency, and discipline across quality, delivery, and execution metrics.

What you'll be doing

As the Engineering Operations Lead, you will own and operate across three critical functions:

1. Quality & Test Automation Leadership

Oversee the test automation strategy and framework used across all scrum teams.
  • Ensure high-quality test coverage for:
  • Frontend (functional, regression, smoke)
  • Backend services (API, integration, regression)
  • Establish standards for test quality, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Continuously assess coverage gaps, flaky tests, and quality risks.
  • Partner with teams to shift quality left, embedding it into development workflows.

2. Release & DevOps Coordination
  • Coordinate release planning and execution across teams.
  • Work closely with DevOps and Platform engineers to ensure smooth deployments.
  • Improve release predictability, rollback readiness, and production stability.
  • Drive visibility into release readiness, risks, and dependencies.
  • Help reduce production incidents through better pre-release validation and governance.

3. Agile & Delivery Enablement (Scrum / Metrics)
  • Act as an Agile/Scrum facilitator across teams (not a task manager).
  • Guide teams on velocity, throughput, and delivery discipline.
  • Track and report engineering effectiveness metrics, including:
  • DORA metrics (lead time, deployment frequency, change failure rate, MTTR)
  • Sprint health and delivery trends
  • Identify systemic delivery issues and work with leaders to address them.
  • Help create a high-trust, high-performance engineering culture.

What you bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in engineering operations, quality engineering, delivery management, or DevOps-adjacent roles.
  • Strong experience with test automation frameworks (frontend and backend).
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, release workflows, and cloud deployments.
  • Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum practices and modern delivery models.
  • Experience defining and tracking engineering metrics, including DORA.
  • Ability to work across multiple teams and stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence engineers and leaders alike.
  • Proven ability to bring structure, transparency, and continuous improvement to engineering organizations.

Added bonus if you have
  • Experience in automotive, financial services, or regulated environments.
  • Hands-on experience with tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab, Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, JUnit, Postman, etc.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS) and containerized deployments.
  • Background as a Scrum Master, Release Manager, or SDET Lead.
  • Experience helping organizations scale from startup-style teams to enterprise delivery.
  • Passion for engineering excellence, reliability, and developer experience.

What we'll bring

During your interview process, our team can fill you in on all the details of our industry-leading benefits and career development opportunities. A few highlights include:
  • A work environment built on teamwork, flexibility, and respect
  • Professional growth and development programs to help advance your career, as well as tuition reimbursement
  • Team Member Vehicle Purchase Discount
  • Toyota Team Member Lease Vehicle Program (if applicable)
  • Comprehensive health care and wellness plans for your entire family
  • Toyota 401(k) Savings Plan featuring a company match, as well as an annual retirement contribution from Toyota regardless of whether you contribute (if applicable)
  • Paid holidays and paid time off
  • Referral services related to prenatal services, adoption, childcare, schools and more
  • Tax Advantaged Accounts (Health Savings Account, Health Care FSA, Dependent Care FSA) • Relocation assistance (if applicable)
