ABOUT OUR ECONOMICS TEAM

Secretariat's Economics team advises clients on complex business, legal, and regulatory matters where rigorous economic analysis is critical to decision-making. Our work may include evaluating the competitive effects of mergers, estimating lost profits or damages in disputes involving patent infringement or trade secrets, assessing fair compensation issues, and analyzing the impact of market rules and regulations on businesses. Much of our work supports high-stakes litigation, regulatory investigations, and business disputes, requiring strong judgment, technical fluency, and the ability to translate complex economic evidence into compelling narratives for courts, regulators, and decision-makers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

We are currently seeking a Manager to join our growing team of economists, statisticians, accountants, and financial analysts. Managers play a key role in leading workstreams, guiding analytical strategy, and developing clear, defensible insights for clients, counsel, regulators, and other stakeholders. We apply our expertise to solve challenging problems - our projects involve high-stakes matters that provide an opportunity to work with prestigious law firms, government entities, Fortune 500 companies, and high-growth corporations in a dynamic, team-based organization.
  • Case Management
    • Lead one to three cases at a time
    • Manage teams of Associates
    • Organize case research and data analysis
    • Work closely with economists on a regular basis
  • Data Analysis
    • Work with complex databases and raw client data in Stata, R, Databricks and other programs
    • Utilize tools such as Microsoft Excel and ArcGIS for graphical and statistical analysis
    • Analyze industry participants and characteristics affecting market competition
    • Calculate cost and damages estimates
  • Research
    • Consult with clients and private sources to obtain necessary data
    • Investigate industries and companies using online and government resources
    • Review litigation and case documents
  • Team Leadership
    • Mentor junior members of the team and contribute to the growth and development of the IP team

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Degree in Economics, Finance, Data Analytics, or Public Policy (e.g., MBA, MA, MS, PhD preferred).
  • 4-6 years of experience at a consulting firm, law firm, regulatory agency, or corporate advisory role.
  • Proven experience working on high-profile intellectual property matters, antitrust matters or economic analysis in merger and conduct cases.
  • Strong project management and client-facing skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex issues clearly to non-experts
  • Authorized to work in the US without the need for sponsorship in the future
