QET 8 DH consists of 24 private rooms and is an orthopedic/medical/surgical care unit.
QET 8 Diamond Head provides care for adult patients 18 years and older. We care for any and all general medical/surgical patients both inpatient and extended short stay patients. Most frequent admission/diagnoses in the last fiscal year include: total joint replacement surgery, fractured hips as well as multi-system orthopedic trauma patients. Other related diagnoses include: septic arthritis, cellulitis and osteomyelitis.
Scope of Service
QET 8 Ewa consists of 24 private rooms, is an inpatient medical-surgical patient care unit with designated foci of orthopedics and ophthalmology.
QET 8 Ewa provides care for adult patients 18 years and older. We extend care to any and all general medical-surgical patients. Most frequent admission/diagnoses in the last fiscal year included: anterior cervical fusion, lumbar discectomy/fusion, lumbar decompression/laminectomy and anterior/posterior lumbar internal fixation with the use of ray cage, as well as multi-system orthopedic trauma patients. Other back-related diagnoses included: intractable chronic back pain, compression fractures and pathology fractures.
Responsibilities
I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Clinical Operations Manager is responsible for daily operations of the nursing unit, and supervision and support of personnel and patients. Includes administrative duties and may include hands-on clinical duties and responsibilities. Assists in setting the standard of care in the department, consistent with the mission, vision and philosophy of the organization.
• Participates in the administrative and operational management and long-range planning of unit(s) and area(s) assigned as required.
• Serves as the manager in the absence of the department manager.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Standing, sitting, walking, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking.
• Frequent: static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.
• Occasional: stooping/bending, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, lifting and carrying usual weight of one pound up to five pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulder level.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
• Subjected to noise/vibrations from intercoms, telephones and monitors.
• Exposure to body fluids and communicable diseases.
• Frequently works on multiple tasks and priorities at one time.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• Current Hawaii State license as Registered Nurse.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Depending upon area of assignment, specialty certification/training may be required.
• Current BLS certification.
B. EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum three (3) years progressive experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care facility.
• One (1) year supervisory/leadership experience.
