JOB SUMMARY

The Manager Cardiovascular Imaging is responsible for Cardiac Imaging management functions. This position manages and supervises functions of Nuclear Medicine, Cardiac PET, EKG/Cardiac Monitor, and partners with Radiology for Cardiac CT and Cardiac MR. The Manager is responsible for the development and ongoing analysis of processes to ensure effective use of staff assigned to locations while optimizing efficiency and workflows. The manager oversees IAC for outpatient advanced imaging sites as assigned. The manager is responsible for accurate time and attendance record keeping as well as ensuring adequate staffing levels through hiring and scheduling. Works closely with the Director to organize and cross train staff from all areas providing Diagnostic Imaging services. Responsible for the daily management of staff, fiscal, resource and quality standards. The manager will assist in providing orientation, continuing education, knowledge and skill for self and staff, as appropriate for the types of patients served. Responsible for competency evaluations, coaching, disciplinary action, and recruitment of assigned staff. Resolves customer service issues with patients and providers and communicate effectively with all other organizational departments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee equipment selection, installation and construction at assigned locations.
• Performs Environment of Care safety rounds.
• Coordinates equipment maintenance, service and upgrades.
• Ensure equipment inspections are current and kept up to date.
• Oversee peer interview process, interview and hire.
• Set expectations for staff, perform staff evaluations, coaches and counsels.
• Reviews budget with Director/Assistant Director on monthly basis to identify variances. Actively assists and supports departmental activities to ensure operational and salary expenses are equal to or less than approved budget.
• Performs quality assurance activities on a quarterly basis. Maintains statistics for yearly evaluations and trending.
• Ensure protocols are consistent and meet the guidelines determined by the Medical Director.
• Investigates patient, staff, physician issues and provides concise written or verbal analysis of these issues as required and requested. Follows up with patients, physicians or staff in a timely manner.
• Aids outside departments and consults with NCH physician offices and urgent care centers offering imaging services.
• Coordinates IAC and/or TJC accreditation as required. Comply with TJC rules and regulations and assures proper training of staff.
• Gathers data using various applications including EMR and PACS as well as other systems available to Cardiology. Assembles data into well-organized reports as requested.
• Exhibits excellent troubleshooting/problem solving skills and ensures outstanding customer service is provided.
• Orders supplies for assigned departments.
• Direct, motivate, and guide staff to efficiently complete procedures while delivering excellent patient care.
• Perform staff orientation. Provides training for equipment and supporting software. Completes departmental checklists and skills competency forms.
• Completes time and attendance records for assigned staff.
• Performs adequate assessment of department and staffing needs. Aligns resources with demands of imaging services offered throughout the NCH Healthcare System.
• Provides direction and assistance to modality leads and supervisors with staff scheduling to provide adequate coverage for projected workloads. Balances staffing between all worksites as needed. Mentor supervisors to excel and advance.
• Understands and correctly applies the coaching/disciplinary system for employees currently used by the NCH System. Provides appropriate feedback to Department Director regarding personnel issues, problems, successes.
• Represents the Department of Cardiovascular Imaging as required when the Director and Assistant Director are unavailable. Ability to communicate supporting requested information to group members on behalf of the Cardiovascular Imaging Department Administration.
• Recommend system improvements based on observations of patient workflow as well as maintaining cost containment regarding budgetary commitments.
• Responsible for the supervision and management of day-to-day operations at the Nuclear Medicine Department, EKG/ Monitor and PET sites as well as other NCH Cardiac Imaging Departments when required.
• Cardiovascular Session Providers Meetings as required.
• Demonstrates excellent technical skills.
• Demonstrates organization and communication skills.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Graduate of an accredited nuclear medicine program. Prefer a four-year degree in healthcare related field or administration.
• Minimum of 5 years clinical experience in Nuclear Medicine, managing nuclear medicine lab, radiopharmaceutical and radiation safety required.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience with departmental quality control, state Audits, case review management, maintaining Accreditations managing required.
• Minimum 2 of supervisory experience required.
• Registered by the NMTCB or ARRT (N).
• Basic Life Support (BLS Provider) certification from the American Heart Association required.
• Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
