Job Description:

Key Responsibilities
  • Create a culture of employee empowerment, engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead the maintenance team in following safety policies, procedures, and initiatives to support zero incidents and a healthy work environment.
  • Supports capital expenditure projects, including planning, execution, and project management.
  • Manage the maintenance budget by tracking expenditures and labor costs against mill and department plans.
  • Direct root cause analysis for equipment and system failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Use maintenance and production data to identify deficiencies that cause downtime or reduce equipment reliability.
  • Provide technical support for mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, local, and capital projects.
  • Supports and leads elements of preventive and predictive maintenance, reliability, machine improvement, and lean manufacturing programs.
  • Plan and prioritize work orders, repair activities, outage work, and maintenance schedules to minimize production downtime.
  • Oversee troubleshooting, repair, in-house design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of equipment.
  • Ensure replacement tools, parts, and materials are available for manufacturing operations.
  • Review productivity reports and conduct routine inspections for mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues.
  • Communicate goals and objectives, apply company policy, and staff, train, coach, and develop maintenance colleagues.
  • Promote positive colleague relations, review performance, and administer performance management in accordance with company policy
  • Drive safety, environmental, and operational excellence initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Supports and leads all elements of OPEX activities to include, but not limited to Performance Management, Leader Standard Work, Operator Basic Care, 5’s, and Gemba.



Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field of study is preferred.
  • Typically 8–12 years of relevant experience, including substantial maintenance leadership experience; paper mill experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience coaching and developing individuals and teams to achieve strong performance.



Knowledge and Skills
  • Demonstrated success in safety, reliability, process improvement, preventive and predictive maintenance, planning and scheduling, storeroom operations, outage planning, and project management.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, tools, codes, and safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, boilers, steam systems, precision alignment, vibration analysis, pumps, and rigging.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, DCS process systems, CMMS and work-order management systems.
  • Technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical/electronic, instrumentation, and computer systems, including equipment assembly and disassembly.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, project management, planning, communication, facilitation, presentation, mentoring, team-building, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents.

Compensation Range:

The pay range for this position is $103,900.00 - $176,800.00 annually. Typically, a competitive wage for new hires will fall between105,000.00 to140,000.00 annually. Offers for this position may vary based on market data and other factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. The position may also be eligible for a short-term incentive.
