Job Description:

The Maintenance Planner plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of our mobile and surface mining equipment. This role supports the strategic planning and execution of maintenance activities, directly impacting equipment availability, utilization, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). With maintenance comprising approximately 25% of the total operating budget, this role is key in driving effective resource allocation, cost control, and asset integrity across operations.

Day to Day:
  • Forecast long-term material requirements in conjunction with SCM
  • Forecast LOM maintenance requirements based on Planning forecasts
  • Prepare and issue long-range schedules, budgets, and forecasts


Planning
  • Plan, estimate, and prepare warehouse materials and major tools
  • Plan, estimate, and obtain procured materials and contracted services according to authorization limits
  • Plan, estimate, and identify the proper labor, services, and skills
  • Ensure contractors scheduled are properly Onboarding
  • Identify and prepare job procedures, workflows, and special work needs
  • Plan capacity for support equipment, logistics, manpower, and workshop space
  • Assist with the design, planning, and coordination of shutdowns


Scheduling
  • Prepare and align work planned work to schedule process.
  • Support schedule of proposed equipment downtime to resource availability
  • Facilitate weekly maintenance scheduling meetings
  • Attend daily/weekly meetings for feedback and adjustments
  • Organize staging of materials and tooling in line with the weekly plan


Identification
  • Capture all requests for work in the system (verbal, written, phone, etc.)
  • Maintain integrity of preventive maintenance triggers and job creation
  • Identify, capture, analyze, and act on condition monitoring data (oil, vibration, etc.)
  • Filter, prioritize, and arrange for the approval of work requests from all sources
  • Identify trends and repetitive issues within area of responsibility and create action plan

Data
  • Maintain a full and complete equipment register for work area (TCO)
  • Ensure accurate register and tracking of rotables and components
  • Maintain key standard jobs and part listings for all equipment
  • Ensure work history and completion information is captured electronically


Communications
  • Participate in LOM Meetings and quarterly forecasts
  • Act as critical contact for operations, materials, accounting, IT, etc. relating to maintenance
  • Interface with operations and maintenance to schedule equipment shutdowns
  • Communicate with Maintenance Supervisors to plan, estimate, and identify the proper labor, services, and skills
  • Communicate with cost center owners for approval of work requests


Financial
  • Participate in preparation and review of monthly/annual budget
  • Prepare quarterly forecast
  • Manage weekly, monthly, and quarterly spending according to budget
  • Facilitate monitoring, review, approval, and payment of suppliers


Leadership
  • Lead by example in all aspects of the vision, values, and social responsibility
  • Contribute to and take personal responsibility for all EH&S in work area
  • Support and contribute to key initiatives and continuous improvement
  • Comply with company policies and procedures, and applicable regulations


Is This You?
  • Technical experience in an applicable maintenance trade (5+ years)
  • Supervisory experience as a maintenance foreman (1+ years)
  • Experience in a related heavy industry (5+ years), or applicable experience in the mining industry (3+ years)
  • Experience with automated maintenance management systems (CMMS) (1+ years)
  • Strong understanding of maintenance, materials management, and operations
  • Organized, methodical, and disciplined work style
  • Direct, clear, and concise communication (written and oral)
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a very large network of people
  • Detailed experience with PC applications
  • High degree of interpersonal influence (without authority)
  • Solid understanding of resource management, cost management, and budgeting
  • Proven ability to balance day-to-day work with future projects
  • Willingness to train and develop others
  • Willingness to work with others to ensure a functional maintenance system


Working Conditions & Location:
  • Mine site is located at elevations ranging from approximately 9,400 ft. to 10,600 ft. above sea level. Workers in this position are routinely exposed to conditions at various work sites throughout this range of elevations.
  • Weather conditions can and do change frequently and can become severe at times.
  • Ability to complete work tasks while exposed to weather conditions / elevation.
  • Arrive at work site with appropriate gear suitable for weather conditions.
  • Able to work as a productive member of a team.
