This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers you will work to design, analyze, build, test, integrate, and operate fluids and propulsion subsystems for Lunar mission vehicles. We're seeking an experiencedLiquids Cryogenic Hardware Design Engineerto design the fluid systems that power this revolution. You will own the complete lifecycle of mission-critical hardware that directly enables lunar logistics and human exploration. This isn't incremental workit's foundational technology for a new economy.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Define Fluids component requirements that meet system needs, negotiate interfaces, evaluate potential in house and vendor designs, conduct 1st order analyses
  • Generate and present component details in vehicle design reviews and integration forums, field questions related to your components
  • Generate and release engineering drawings
  • Work with supplier team to identify and procure materials and components
  • Work with supplier team to finalize design, build, test, and deliver components to the vehicle
  • Generate test and analysis reports following subsystem specific test campaigns
  • Provide complete component verification products

Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in aerospace propulsion and fluid analysis and piping design including process component selection and process fluid design architecture
  • Familiarity with propulsion and fluid system components (i.e. valves, regulators and pumps for cryogenics, propellants, and other fluids)
  • Ability to interpret and generate Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Ability to create fabrication and installation drawings with Creo Parametric.

Desired:

  • Cryogenic fluids knowledge including testing
  • Experience performing the structural and fluid design and analysis of piping and tubing systems; and using analysis tools such as ANSYS, Thermal Desktop.
  • Experience with Creo Parametric and Windchill
  • Knowledge of standard installation and fabrication methods of piping systems (tube stock, fittings, connections, fasteners, welding, etc.)
  • Advanced Engineering degree (Masters or PhD)
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerance
