Full Job Description
Employment Type: Full-time Schedule: 3 days In-office / 2 Remote Salary Range: $90,000 -115,000 (depending on experience). This role is also eligible for an annual performance-based bonus. Bonus eligibility and payout are determined by role, individual performance, and company performance, and are not guaranteed. Level: Mid Location: Long Beach, CA Overview: This position is for individuals with 1-4 years of experience in lighting design. As a Lighting Designer you will be supporting the design team and projects in all aspects and phases. You will work alongside the design team in preparing documentation to present lighting, testing and validating the design with mock-ups and calculations, and having a key role executing technical documentation. While primarily a supportive role you will be expected to offer design input and owning a space in the growing studio. Key Responsibilities Design Complexity: - Apply advanced concepts and solve complex problems independently. - Create specifications for medium and complex projects. - Perform lighting calculations, analysis, and rendering studies; use results to inform decisions. - Document lighting layouts in Revit and/or AutoCAD. - Assist with lighting mock-ups and design presentations. - Support design presentations and construction documentation for architectural lighting projects. - Take responsibility for lighting calculations and building certification compliance credits. - Provide technical assistance on design, installation, and integration issues for innovative lighting solutions. Construction Administration: - Review submittals and respond to contractor inquiries during construction. - Produce meeting reports and punch lists. Other Duties: - Occasional out-of-town travel for project work or site visits. - Support marketing efforts. Required Skills & Competencies Technical Skills: - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. - Strong presentation skills. - Expertise in design software: Agi32 , AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Revit, InDesign, Bluebeam. Qualifications - Experience: 1-4 years' experience in architectural lighting design - Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Lighting Design, or a related discipline. Certifications: - Working knowledge of energy codes. - Lighting Certified (LC) through NCQLP. (preferred) - Professional society involvement and/or industry leadership.
