Licensed Maryland Surveyor | Manassas, VA

IMEG is hiring a Senior Surveyor in Manassas, VA, to lead daily survey operations supporting construction layout, boundary, topographic, and as built surveys. This role applies diversified knowledge of land surveying principles and practices to production surveying duties, calculations, and survey judgment while supporting accurate, high-quality project delivery under the leadership of a Senior Land Surveyor.

Principal Responsibilities
• Perform complex survey work for construction stakeout and boundary, topographic, and as built surveys
• Research historic maps, land records, previous surveys, and land title reports
• Complete boundary reductions, boundary determinations, and mapping/topographic field reductions in CAD/survey software
• Maintain and verify the accuracy of project survey data and manage company standards survey database
• Review survey production, processed data collection, field notes, and final products for quality control
• Prepare survey computations, staking/control exhibits, and survey crew instructions for construction staking and field survey projects
• Support the operation of GPS equipment, total stations, levels, data collectors, and other survey equipment
• Supervise CAD Techs in preparing plans and plats describing the surveys performed
• Build productive working relationships with clients and coworkers
• Prepare proposals, scopes of work, schedules, and budgets, and mentor and assist in training junior staff members
• Operate a company vehicle
• Observe safety and security procedures

Required Qualifications and Skills
• Bachelor of Science (BS) or Associate Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required
• 8 years of experience minimum required, 12 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry preferred
• Land Surveyor (LS) License required
• Advanced knowledge of land surveying operations, computations, principles and practices
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering plans and construction documents
• Knowledge and ability to effectively deal with public and governmental agencies, manage field crews, and schedule equipment and supplies
• Proficient in on-site office operation, office workflow processes and problem-solving techniques
• Advanced understanding of office workflow processes and problem-solving techniques
• Advanced understanding of survey operations and identification of potential problems
• Proficient with AutoCAD C3D, survey, GPS, MS Office software
• Advanced problem-solving techniques
• Proven people management and leadership capabilities
• Possesses oral and written communication skills
• Ability to effectively communicate with clients, officials, contractors, coworkers and professionally represent IMEG
• Valid driver's license with ability to be insured by IMEG carrier; must consent to a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background check
• Proficient in Microsoft and MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays

  • Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull.

Salary Ranges (by jurisdiction, in compliance with local laws): Salary Range: $85,000 - $100,000 Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
