Key responsibilities
We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Leveraged Lending lawyer to:
• partner with the investment bank and external counsel to provide holistic support on the full range of leveraged lending and structured lending transactions that originate in the U.S. and other jurisdictions
• act as a subject matter expert for all legal and regulatory matters for or related to the U.S. leveraged finance and structured lending markets, including in a restructuring context
• collaborate with the wider Group Legal and Investment Banking teams to educate on new regulatory initiatives, market trends, conflicts, significant cases and changes in law
• monitor legal and regulatory developments for the Investment Banking business
• work closely with other firm functions including Compliance, Conflicts, the Global Banking Operating Office and Risk
The team
You will be working in the Global Banking Legal team in either the New York or Nashville office. You will play a vital role in supporting the negotiation and documentation of loan agreements, commitment letters and other transactional documents. As a business aligned leveraged lending lawyer, you will be a trusted advisor to the Investment Bank by delivering best-in-class legal advice on transactions to effectively manage our legal and regulatory risk.
Your skills and experience
• JD degree with current Bar Admission in New York, Tennessee or another major U.S. jurisdiction
• ideally 4+ years' experience in transactional legal practice at a law firm or as in-house counsel
• demonstrated knowledge of leveraged finance and structured lending across industry classes
• experience with acquisition financings, M&A transactions, debt restructurings and/or capital markets transactions is a plus
• ability to work as a team player across products and divisions
• experience negotiating complex documents; prior experience providing advice to investment banks a plus
• exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to challenge stakeholders at all levels
• you're curious to explore how AI can improve how we build, deliver, and optimize workflows. You do this with sound judgment - validating outputs and aligning with policies, risk standards, and ethical use.
Salary information
The indicative gross base salary range as a full-time equivalent role:
• United States - New York - New York min USD 150000 - max USD 205000
• United States - Tennessee - Nashville min USD 135000 - max USD 183000 /annum
