  • Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial agreements including Master Services Agreements

  • Provide legal guidance across governance, compliance, and risk management
  • Identify legal risks and offer practical recommendations

Full Job Description
Location: Ottawa or Toronto

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

IMPORTANT - Ottawa Candidates: Must be eligible to obtain Reliability Clearance (Canadian Citizen, or Permanent Resident AND have resided in Canada for the last 5 consecutive years)

This role is ideal for a lawyer who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working closely with business partners, and is passionate about leveraging technology and AI to improve legal operations and contract management processes.

What You'll Do

Commercial Contracts & Sales Support

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including Master Services Agreements, staffing and contractor agreements, and other customer-facing legal documents.
  • Act as a key legal partner to the Sales team, providing practical guidance on contracts, customer requests, and legal risks.


HR & Employment Support

  • Partner with HR to provide legal guidance on employment agreements, policies, employee relations, and employment law matters.
  • Support employment-related disputes and regulatory matters and advise on compliance with applicable legislation.


Governance, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Provide legal guidance across compliance, privacy, intellectual property, corporate governance, risk management, and regulatory matters.
  • Identify and assess legal risks and provide practical recommendations to support the business.


Legal Operations & Technology

  • Maintain legal records, contracts, corporate filings, business permits, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Leverage AI and technology to improve contract management, legal processes, and operational efficiency.


Qualifications

  • J.D. or LL.B. from a recognized Canadian law school (or equivalent)
  • Active membership in good standing with Law Society of Ontario
  • 1-5 years of legal experience gained in private practice, in-house, or a combination of both
  • Proven experience reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial contracts
  • Knowledge of Canadian employment law is strongly preferred

Compensation:

The salary for this position will vary based on location, experience, and qualifications.

The expected annual salary range is $100,000-140,000 + bonus.
