A Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) requires a blend of production-grade software engineering, modern AI/data integration, and client-facing consulting skills.
Technical Skills Production Coding: Fluent in core languages like Python and TypeScript/JavaScript, alongside backend basics in Java or Go. Data & SQL: Advanced SQL, relational database management, and building basic ETL data ingestion pipelines. Modern AI Stack: Hands-on experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, vector databases, and agent orchestration workflows. Cloud & Infrastructure: Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) to deploy secure, scalable client environments.
