Full Job Description
About the Role
We're looking for a Producer to lead creative delivery for Research-led launches, from the initial brief through production and release. You'll work closely with Research to understand the capabilities, limitations, and context behind each launch, then help creative teams turn that understanding into strong work.
You'll own the production plan and day-to-day delivery across internal teams and external partners. That means shaping actionable briefs, securing the right inputs and resources, making reviews productive, and adapting as research and launch plans evolve. You'll bring calm judgment, technical curiosity, and respect for creative craft to fast-moving work where accuracy matters as much as timing.
This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of three days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees. Occasional travel will be required.
In this role, you will:
Build close working relationships with Researchers and various technical product partners.
Partner with Research, Product, Product Marketing, Communications, and Creative leads to turn launch priorities into clear briefs, deliverables, production scopes, and approval plans.
Own work from creative development through final handoff. Set milestones and owners, track dependencies, and surface changes in research readiness, scope, or timing with practical options.
Produce integrated launch assets across design, motion, film, demos, web, and social, including creative assets for research blogs and system cards. Bring specialist teams together around a consistent story.
Manage production resources and external partners, including scopes, estimates, budgets, and vendor deliverables. Work with the appropriate teams on statements of work, purchase orders, and usage rights.
Lead reviews with Research and technical, legal, policy, and creative owners from early input through final approval. Turn feedback into clear actions, resolve conflicts, and document decisions. Ensure changes to model names, claims, demos, and product behavior are reflected across affected assets before release.
Plan versioning and localization with channel and regional partners. Oversee asset QA, specifications, and final handoffs so teams publish the correct, approved versions.
Keep briefs, timelines, decisions, and final assets easy to find. Close out production, capture lessons, and improve repeatable workflows without adding unnecessary process.
You might thrive in this role if you:
Have 8+ years of experience producing complex creative work for technology or research-driven launches, with hands-on responsibility from briefing and scoping through production and delivery.
Bring deep technical curiosity and a hands-on drive to understand Research, learn as the technology evolves, and champion OpenAI's mission as a Research lab. You build context quickly and work confidently with researchers and engineers. With a growth mindset, you ask thoughtful questions to grow your understanding and to evolve with the technology.
Are fluent and confident with AI tools and workflows, and use them hands-on in creative production. You exercise sound judgment about quality, accuracy, and when human review is needed.
Understand design, motion, film, and digital production well enough to scope the work, anticipate dependencies, and support the people making it.
Are comfortable managing production partners, budgets, schedules, reviews, and delivery requirements across several concurrent workstreams.
Communicate clearly and build trust across disciplines. You can incorporate feedback, challenge assumptions constructively, and make tradeoffs visible without losing momentum.
Thrive in an extremely fast-paced environment where inputs change and timelines compress. You stay composed and organized, protect essential review and quality checks, and find workable paths forward.
Exercise discretion with unreleased research, launch plans, partner information, and production budgets, and have a genuine interest in AI and creative craft.
Nice to Have
Experience working directly with AI researchers or producing model launches, technical demonstrations, or scientific storytelling.
Experience delivering localized creative across markets and coordinating rights, approvals, and asset versioning.
