Full Job Description
Barbaricum is seeking a Journeyman Scientist - CBRN to provide scientific and technical support for programs focused on Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) threats and homeland security mission requirements. The selected candidate will apply expertise in science, engineering, medicine, veterinary science, or public health to analyze complex technical challenges, assess CBRN impacts, and support the development of effective prevention, protection, and response strategies.

The Journeyman Scientist will conduct research, technical analyses, and operational assessments related to CBRN hazards affecting human, animal, plant, and environmental health. The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop recommendations, support program objectives, and enhance preparedness and response capabilities for government customers

Responsibilities:

  • Provide scientific and technical expertise in support of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) programs, research initiatives, and mission requirements.
  • Conduct scientific analyses and evaluations related to human, animal, plant, and environmental impacts associated with CBRN events and hazards.
  • Support the development, assessment, and implementation of prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery strategies within the homeland security mission space.
  • Analyze complex technical and operational issues, identify root causes, and develop recommendations to support decision-making and program objectives.
  • Assist in the planning, execution, and evaluation of scientific studies, system development efforts, and operational assessments related to CBRN preparedness and response.
  • Coordinate with government stakeholders, researchers, engineers, public health professionals, and subject matter experts to support multidisciplinary projects and initiatives.
  • Develop technical reports, analytical products, briefings, and recommendations based on research findings and operational assessments.
  • Support program management activities by tracking project milestones, deliverables, and technical requirements.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, scientific methodologies, and best practices to improve CBRN detection, protection, and response capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable scientific, regulatory, and organizational standards while supporting mission-critical homeland security objectives.


Qualifications:
  • Must have an active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a scientific, engineering, medical, veterinary, or public health field.
  • 3-10 years of experience in a scientific, engineering, medical, veterinary, or public health field.
  • Experience supporting major programs or system development efforts related to human, animal, or plant health and medical consequences of CBRN events or a comb.
  • Experience in the HS pillars of prevention and protection.
  • Operational scientific and technical analysis.
  • Ability to define and resolve system issues, performing analysis, and developing plans and requirements for further analysis.
