The Infrastructure Operations Manager provides operational leadership across system administration, identity and access management, endpoint management, and Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, OneDrive, Teams - including org-wide Teams Voice implementation - and Intune implementation). This role owns enterprise backup operations and DR/BCP runbook design and brings infrastructure-as-code practices into day-to-day operational workflows.
The Infrastructure Operations Manager leads the infrastructure systems team and drives operational stability and maturity, while partnering closely with the Cloud Platform Architect on Azure initiatives, infrastructure integration, and M&A activities.
Key ResponsibilitiesSystem Administration & Operations- Own day-to-day administration of core infrastructure, including Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
- Establish and maintain operational processes (incident, change, and problem management) aligned to ITIL and SOC 2 requirements.
- Drive patch management, monitoring coverage, and on-call/escalation processes across the environment.
Identity & Access Management- Own Azure AD/Entra ID administration, including identity lifecycle, conditional access, MFA, and privileged access management.
- Conduct regular access reviews and close identity governance gaps in partnership with security and compliance stakeholders.
Endpoint Management- Lead implementation and ongoing administration of Microsoft Intune, including device enrollment, compliance policies, and application deployment.
- Drive endpoint compliance coverage across the organization's device fleet.
Microsoft 365 Services- Oversee administration of Exchange Online, OneDrive, and Teams.
- Lead the organization-wide Teams Voice implementation, including design, pilot, and phased cutover from legacy telephony.
Backup, DR & Business Continuity- Oversee backup operations for enterprise systems, including job health monitoring and remediation of coverage gaps.
- Partner with the Cloud Platform Architect to design and maintain DR/BCP runbooks for critical systems.
- Establish and lead a recurring DR/BCP testing cadence, including tabletop exercises and live recovery tests.
Cloud & Infrastructure Integration- Deploy and support Azure Files across business divisions, including authentication and file sync configuration.
- Build and expand infrastructure-as-code practices (Terraform) to support repeatable, scalable operational workflows.
- Partner closely with the Cloud Platform Architect on Azure initiatives, infrastructure integration projects, and M&A technology onboarding.
Team Leadership- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of Infrastructure System Administrators.
- Support hiring, performance management, and professional development of direct reports.
- Guide the team through daily operations, project execution, and escalations.
Specific Qualifications
Years of Experience- 7-10 years in IT infrastructure/systems administration, including hands-on Microsoft 365 administration.
- 3-5 years in a people-management or team-lead capacity.
- 3+ years managing identity and access management (Azure AD/Entra ID) in a production environment.
- Experience deploying or implementing Intune for endpoint management at scale.
- Experience implementing Teams Voice/telephony (Direct Routing, Calling Plans, or Operator Connect) strongly preferred.
- 2+ years working with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform preferred).
- Experience owning or contributing to enterprise backup operations and DR/BCP planning.
- Experience implementing and supporting Azure Files or similar cloud file services.
- Experience operating in a hybrid (on-prem + Azure/M365) environment given ongoing infrastructure consolidation.
First 12-24 Month Goals0-3 months: Assess current state of IAM, endpoint management, M365 services, backup operations, and existing DR/BCP documentation; inventory legacy telephony setup; build working relationship with Cloud Platform Architect and INFRA/COMM leads.
3-6 months: Close critical IAM gaps (access reviews, conditional access, privileged access); begin Intune rollout/compliance baseline; audit backup job health and remediate coverage gaps across enterprise systems.
6-12 months: Deploy or migrate to Azure Files for each business division; co-develop DR/BCP runbooks with the Cloud Platform Architect for critical systems; pilot Terraform for at least one repeatable infrastructure workflow.
12-18 months: Lead org-wide Teams Voice rollout (design, pilot, phased cutover); formalize backup/DR testing cadence (tabletop + live recovery tests); expand IaC coverage across operational tasks.
18-24 months: Fully integrate newly acquired entities' identities, endpoints, M365 tenants, and backup/DR processes onto standard org platform; demonstrate measurable improvements in endpoint compliance %, backup success rate, DR test pass rate, and Teams Voice adoption/uptime.
Must-Have Skills / Certifications- Hands-on administration of Windows Server and core infrastructure (AD, DNS, DHCP, GPO).
- Azure AD/Entra ID administration - identity lifecycle, conditional access, MFA, privileged roles.
- Microsoft Intune - device enrollment, compliance policies, app deployment.
- M365 administration - Exchange Online, OneDrive, Teams (including Teams Voice/telephony).
- Enterprise backup operations experience (design, monitoring, troubleshooting failures).
- Experience contributing to or authoring DR/BCP runbooks.
- Working knowledge of Terraform or comparable IaC tooling.
- ITSM/ITIL process experience (incident, change, problem management).
- Proven direct people-management experience (hiring, performance reviews, coaching).
- Ability to partner effectively with architecture/security teams on cross-functional initiatives.
- Experience with automation of Employee On-Boarding and Off-Boarding Lifecycle.
Nice-to-Have Skills / Certifications- Microsoft Certified: Microsoft 365 Administrator Expert (MS-102).
- Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate (SC-300).
- Direct Routing / Operator Connect implementation experience for Teams Voice.
- HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate.

- Prior experience through an M&A integration or tenant consolidation project.
- Automation/scripting experience (PowerShell, Graph API) for identity, Intune, or backup provisioning.
