We are looking for an Engineering Lead in IoT Systems Integration to build and maintain the data pipeline powering our IoT platform. You will own sensor integration, data ingestion, quality assurance, and deployment automation.
This is a hands-on role where you will own technical direction, influence the team, and remain deeply involved in architecture and implementation.
What you will do:Systems Integration - Design and deploy multi-protocol IoT integrations (Zigbee, Z-Wave, Matter, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LoRaWAN) from native sensors to cloud platforms.
- Build data-ingestion services for telemetry, events, status updates, and firmware metadata.
- Develop integration frameworks and APIs that bridge sensor networks, edge gateways, and cloud data platforms.
- Design schemas, data models, and transformation logic for sensor data pipelines.
- Manage cloud infrastructure and edge systems using infrastructure-as-code and deployment tooling.
Quality and Automation - Own end-to-end QA across firmware, tag provisioning, mobile apps, web applications, and cloud services.
- Write and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
- Build automated testing frameworks for validating sensor integrations and data accuracy.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
- Investigate and resolve production issues across integrations, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure.
- Improve system reliability through retries, idempotency, monitoring, and error handling.
Leadership and Collaboration - Lead by influence across the engineering stack. Set clear goals, priorities, and quality standards.
- Mentor engineers through design reviews and direct feedback on architecture and QA.
- Initiate and lead technical design discussions and communicate tradeoffs clearly.
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, product, and cloud teams to align on technical direction.
- Lead pilot programs and technical validation with partners and customers.
- Build the team through hiring and help define technical standards.
What we are looking for:Required - 5+ years in systems integration, deployment engineering, or IoT platform development.
- Ability to lead technical teams while remaining hands-on.
- Deep experience with multi-protocol IoT ecosystems (at least 3 of: Zigbee, Z-Wave, Matter, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LoRaWAN, Cellular).
- Strong background in data pipeline design, data lakes, and ETL processes.
- Strong Python and hands-on experience with data integration frameworks.
- Proven expertise building end-to-end QA frameworks across firmware, mobile, web, and cloud.
- Experience with AWS or comparable cloud platforms for IoT data ingestion and storage.
- Strong automated-testing skills (unit, integration, end-to-end).
- Experience with Git, CI/CD, code review, and production deployment.
- Clear communicator across hardware, firmware, app, and cloud teams.
Nice to Have - Experience building cloud-connected IoT or device-management platforms.
- Experience with AWS IoT Core, IoT Jobs, Device Shadows, or fleet provisioning.
- Experience with firmware OTA updates and telemetry systems.
- Experience with time-series databases (InfluxDB, TimescaleDB) or stream processing.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (AWS CDK, Terraform).
- Familiarity with embedded systems and wireless communications.
- Track record launching products from alpha through production pilots.
- Experience in aerospace, satellite, industrial IoT, or mission-critical environments.
- Background in security-focused systems and operational compliance.
Additional RequirementsThis is a fast-paced, high-impact environment - flexibility to occasionally work extended hours or weekends during critical periods is expected.
$150,000 - $250,000 a year
This is a full time, exempt position, based out of our Saratoga office. The total compensation packaged will be determined by various factors such as your relevant job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
We are redefining how satellites are designed, manufactured and used-so we're looking for candidates with passion, deep knowledge and direct experience on LEO satellite component development, design and in-orbit activities. If that's your experience - then we'll be immediately wow-ed.
In your first 90 days, you will have mapped the current embedded software architecture, identified the highest-priority gaps, and shipped at least one meaningful feature end-to-end. Within six months, you will have established a team testing standard, introduced measurable improvements to firmware reliability, and built strong working relationships with hardware and systems engineering.
How We Work• On-site, collaborative environment. We build physical hardware - presence matters.
• Small teams with high autonomy. You own your area end-to-end.
• Fast iteration cycles. We prototype, test, and revise quickly.
• Direct feedback culture. We expect candor and respect in equal measure.
