POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Fixed Income & Credit Investment Analyst to join Burgundy’s investment team. The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying, analyzing, and monitoring high-quality investment opportunities consistent with the firm’s long-term investment philosophy.
This role is well suited for an intellectually curious, highly analytical individual who enjoys deep fundamental research and values independent thinking. The analyst will work closely with the Portfolio Manager and other members of the investment team and will have meaningful responsibility and visibility within the investment process.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Conduct fundamental and quantitative research on fixed income securities – primarily investment grade and high yield corporate bonds but may also include government bonds, municipal debt, structured credit products, convertible bonds, preferred shares, and hybrid securities.
· Monitor credit quality, interest rate movements, economic indicators, and sector or industry trends to evaluate investment risks and opportunities.
· Develop and maintain financial models and analyze covenants and legal documentation to support investment decisions.
· Prepare and deliver investment recommendations, market commentary, and research reports to portfolio managers, senior leadership and relationship managers.
· Support portfolio construction and risk management processes, including duration analysis, yield curve positioning, and credit exposure assessment.
· Track the performance of fixed income portfolios relative to benchmarks and identify key drivers of performance.
· Stay up to date with regulatory developments, macroeconomic events, and market conditions that affect fixed income markets.
· Collaborate with traders, portfolio managers, and other analysts; contribute to internal investment discussions and debates, bringing independent perspectives and thoughtful challenge.
· Uphold Burgundy’s high standards for intellectual rigor and integrity.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
· 4+ years of prior professional experience in investment research, preferably fixed income & credit, though equity research will also be considered.
· Strong understanding of fixed income instruments, credit markets, and valuation methodologies.
· Demonstrated passion for investing and a genuine interest in understanding businesses.
· Intellectual curiosity and confidence to challenge consensus views with well-supported analysis.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, solid financial and business acumen, and meticulous attention to detail.
· Effective written and verbal communication and presentation abilities, with the capacity to clearly articulate complex ideas.
· Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
· Sound judgment, integrity, and alignment with a long-term, owner-oriented investment mindset.
THE FIXED INCOME & CREDIT TEAM
The Fixed Income Team at Burgundy manages four distinct funds:
· The Bond Fund – Established in May 1999, this fund focuses on government and investment grade bonds.
· The Strategic Credit Fund – Launched in August 2005, this fund invests in both investment grade and high-yield bonds.
· The Investment Grade Credit Fund – Created in January 2018, this fund is dedicated exclusively to investment grade bonds.
· A dedicated High Yield Credit Fund – Specializes in high-yield bonds.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
