Position OverviewThe Internal Medicine Physician will provide comprehensive outpatient internal medicine services, including the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic medical conditions. The physician will work as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care while supporting the mission of military medicine.
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive primary and internal medicine care for adult patients.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests and laboratory results.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Prescribe medications and monitor patient response to treatment.
- Provide preventive health services and patient education.
- Coordinate specialty referrals and follow-up care as appropriate.
- Maintain complete and accurate electronic medical records in accordance with military healthcare standards.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, specialists, and ancillary staff to ensure continuity of care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with applicable military, federal, and organizational policies.
Minimum Qualifications- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
- Board Certified in Internal Medicine.
- Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
- Current DEA registration (if required by the contract).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification may be required.
- Must meet all credentialing and privileging requirements established by the military treatment facility.
Preferred Qualifications- Previous experience practicing within a Military Treatment Facility (MTF), Department of Defense (DoD), or Veterans Affairs (VA) healthcare system is preferred but not required.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
