Job Description Summary
L’ingénieur(e) électrique sera chargé(e) de la conception électromagnétique des alternateurs hydrauliques pour les projets hydro en Amérique du Nord. L’ingénieur(e) sera responsable des aspects électriques du produit alternateur, prenant en charge la définition d’une solution gagnante optimisée respectant à la fois le budget, les jalons d’offre et la stratégie commerciale mise en place pour l’offre. Cette personne sera aussi responsable de l’implantation de la conception électrique en phase d’exécution.
En plus de la conception électromagnétique des alternateurs l’ingénieur(e) électrique sera chargé(e) de l’estimation de la fourniture des auxiliaires électriques pour l’équipe d’ingénierie de soumission.

The electrical engineer will be responsible for the electrical design of hydro generator for North American projects. The engineer will be responsible of the electrical aspect of the generator, taking charge of the finding the winning optimized solution while respecting budget, tender milestones and commercial strategy to win the bid. The engineer will also be responsible to implement the solution during the execution phase of the project.
In addition to the generator electrical design, the engineer will be responsible for estimating the electrical auxiliary scope for the tenders.

  • Fournir une expertise technique et développer des solutions adaptées (configuration, estimation des performances, coûts, etc.) dans le cadre du processus d’avant-projet en en étroite collaboration avec l’équipe commerciale.

  • Développer une solide compréhension du marché et contribuer à établir la stratégie gagnante maximisant la valeur offerte au client.

  • Analyser les besoins techniques du client afin de définir et d’optimiser le produit alternateur, de valider les échéanciers de projet, d’élaborer la stratégie d’approvisionnement et d’optimiser les coûts, tout en respectant les exigences contractuelles et les procédures internes. 

  • Réaliser la conception électromagnétique de base et le calcul des alternateurs électriques.

  • Analyser les besoins des clients relatifs aux équipements auxiliaires électriques (instrumentation, câbles et panneaux électriques, etc.)

  • Rédiger la documentation technique, incluant les notes de calcul, les spécifications techniques et les rapports d’ingénierie

  • Livrer des lots de conception pour des projets hydroélectriques en Amérique du Nord en appliquant les directives techniques et des retours d’expérience (Feedback of Experience – FOE) ;

  • Collaborer avec d’autres ingénieurs de différents COEs (Center Of Excellence) à l’échelle mondiale ;

  • Participer et lancer des revues de conception avec les ingénieurs des différents COEs et experts;

  • Superviser le travail des dessinateurs et techniciennes de bureautique afin d’assurer la production des notes de calcul, des spécifications techniques, des dessins et des BOM (Bill of Materials);

  • Collaborer étroitement avec la chaîne d’approvisionnement afin d’assurer la faisabilité technique et l’optimisation des solutions proposées;

  • Appliquer les principes d’ingénierie visant à garantir la fiabilité, la qualité, la sécurité et l’optimisation des coûts ;

  • Collaborer avec les gestionnaires de projets en ingénierie ;

  • Collaborer avec les experts techniques pour la validation de la conception ainsi que les analyses des causes fondamentales (Root Cause Analysis – RCA) et la mise en œuvre des actions correctives.

Qualifications requises
  • Baccalauréat en ingénierie électrique d’une université reconnue, jumelé à un minimum de cinq (5)  années d’expérience en conception de machines électriques tournantes de grande puissance.

  • Membre de l'Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec, détenteur d'un permis temporaire, ou éligible à devenir membre de l’OIQ à court terme;

  • Disposé à effectuer des déplacements occasionnels en Amérique du Nord

  • Bilingue français/anglais - aptitudes pour rédaction requises: GE Vernova fournit des services de haute qualité à des clients situés à travers le monde et l'employé doit être capable de fournir des services d'une manière efficace alignée sur les normes d'excellence de l'entreprise

Qualifications souhaitables
  • Excellentes aptitudes en communication, tant à l’oral qu’à l’écrit. Solides capacités d’analyse, de résolution de problèmes et de prise de décision. Aptitude à documenter, planifier, évaluer et mener à bien plusieurs mandats simultanément.

  • Faire preuve d’imputabilité dans l’atteinte des objectifs départementaux, régionaux et globaux dans le domaine de l’ingénierie des alternateurs électriques.

  • Provide a technical expertise and develop customized solutions (arrangement, performance estimation, costs, etc) within the pre-project process and with close collaboration of the commercial team.

  • Develop a solid understanding of the market and establish the winning strategy while maximizing the value for the customer.

  • Analyse the technical needs of the client to define and optimize the generator, to validate project planning and build the supply chain strategy and to optimize the cost while meeting contractual requirements and internal processes.

  • Perform basic electromagnetic design and dimensioning of the electric generators.

  • Analyse client’s needs in terms of electrical auxiliary systems (instruments, cabling, junction boxes, etc)

  • Prepare technical documents, including calculation notes, technical specifications and engineering reports.

  • Deliver design package for hydroelectric projects in North America by applying design practices and Feedback of Experience

  • Collaborate with engineers from other Center of Excellence worldwide

  • Launch and participate in design reviews

  • Supervise draftmen and office technicans to ensure the submittal of calculation notes, technical specifications and drawings.

  • Collaborate with supply chain team to ensure technical feasibility and the optimization of the technical solution

  • Apply Engineering principles to ensure, safety, quality, reliability and cost optimization

  • Collaborate with engineering project managers

  • collaborate with technical experts to validate the design, do root cause analyse and implement the corrective actions.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from a known university, with at least 5 years of experience in high power electrical rotating machine design.

  • Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec, a temporary permit or eligible to become a member of the OIQ in the short term.

  • Willing and available to occasionally travel in North America;
