Manager, Infrastructure & Security Operations

We are seeking an experienced Manager of Infrastructure & Security Operations to lead a technical infrastructure team responsible for supporting highly available, secure, and business-critical technology environments.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring someone who can lead a team while remaining technically engaged. The ideal candidate brings strong infrastructure expertise, a root-cause problem-solving mentality, and the ability to use data and metrics to identify issues, improve performance, and drive operational stability.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop an infrastructure and security operations team.
• Assign work, establish priorities, and ensure appropriate operational coverage.
• Remain hands-on when needed to troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues.
• Manage physical and virtual server infrastructure, storage, backups, firewalls, and related systems.
• Oversee infrastructure availability, performance, capacity, and reliability.
• Build and maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging capabilities.
• Establish performance baselines and use metrics to identify trends and recurring issues.
• Lead incident response and structured root-cause analysis.
• Ensure technical issues are thoroughly investigated and supported by data before escalation.
• Oversee firewall administration, VPN, endpoint protection, patching, vulnerability remediation, and security monitoring.
• Maintain infrastructure documentation, operational procedures, diagrams, and change records.
• Support disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity initiatives.
• Manage infrastructure hardware lifecycle, upgrades, replacements, and related investments.
• Partner with engineering, support, security, and other technical teams.
• Coordinate with third-party technology and service vendors.
• Mentor, train, and develop team members.

What They're Looking For

The successful candidate will have a strong root-cause analysis mentality and won't stop troubleshooting after identifying the first potential answer. This person should naturally continue asking questions, gathering evidence, testing assumptions, and digging until the underlying issue is understood.

They should also be data and metrics driven, with the ability to quantify infrastructure performance, support recommendations with evidence, and demonstrate measurable improvements.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems operations, or a related technical environment.
• 2+ years of direct people management experience.
• Strong infrastructure background with particular depth in firewalls and networking.
• Experience with Fortinet and/or Cisco firewalls.
• Experience with Kubernetes, containers, and/or Rancher.
• Strong understanding of data center infrastructure and operations.
• Knowledge of servers, virtualization, storage, backup, and recovery.
• Understanding of network fundamentals, VPNs, firewalls, and application performance.
• Experience with infrastructure monitoring and alerting.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct structured root-cause analysis.
• Working knowledge of infrastructure security, patching, vulnerability management, and change management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.

Preferred Experience

• Experience supporting complex, highly available production environments.
• Experience working within environments with formal security, compliance, or change-management requirements.
• Experience with structured process-improvement methodologies.
• Relevant infrastructure, networking, security, virtualization, or IT service management certifications.

Leadership Profile

This role is best suited for a leader who can balance people leadership with technical depth. The individual should be comfortable managing competing priorities, developing team members, troubleshooting complex issues, working cross-functionally, and stepping directly into technical situations when necessary.
