Full Job Description
Aecon is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Maintenance Director to join our Urban Transportation Solutions group and lead Infrastructure (Civil/Facilities) Maintenance for a major rail project in Toronto. This role is critical in providing strategic and operational oversight of preventive, corrective, and lifecycle maintenance across a complex light rail network with surface, elevated, and underground elements.

What You Will Do Here:
  • Provide overall leadership for maintenance of light rail fixed facilities, including stations, platforms, maintenance facilities, and underground facilities, including tunnels, below grade stations, ventilation systems, drainage, and structural assets.
  • Establish lifecycle maintenance plans, renewal programs, and long-range capital maintenance forecasts.
  • Act as a senior leader during incidents, service disruptions, and emergency responses.
  • Lead and mentor supervisors, engineers, and technical maintenance teams.
  • Oversee maintenance performance, KPIs, reliability metrics, and cost controls.
  • Collaborate closely with operations, fleet maintenance, and systems maintenance to optimize system performance.
  • Oversee third party contractors and service providers, ensuring contractual compliance and performance.
  • Accountable for maintaining system availability, regulatory compliance, and asset integrity while leading multi disciplinary maintenance teams and managing long term performance obligations.
  • Ensure compliance with life safety codes, tunnel safety regulations, and fire authority requirements for underground transit facilities.
  • Coordinate interfaces with Operator for incident response and first line support, ensuring right resources are deployed quickly and accurately documented.
  • Develop and manage budgets and renewal forecasts aligned to performance outcomes and contractual requirements.


What You Bring to The Team:
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in rail or transit infrastructure maintenance, including senior leadership roles.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Infrastructure, Construction Management, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Demonstrated leadership of stations and civil structures, including underground stations/tunnels and other below grade assets.
  • Proven experience operating in regulated transit environments with safety oversight.
  • Experience managing unionized and nonunionized workforces is an asset.
  • Strong financial, contractual, and performance management skills.
  • Experience operating within performance driven environments where schedule compliance, response times, and documentation quality directly affect financial outcomes.
  • Familiarity with North American light rail safety and maintenance standards.
  • Experience within P3 or long term maintenance contract environments is preferred.
  • Must be local to Toronto or willing to relocate.
