Full Job Description
Nightwing is searching for an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to support a customer in the Dulles, Virginia area. The ISSE will support a team of talented software developers and engineers providing application development and operations and maintenance support to Sponsor mission critical systems.

What You Will Get to Do:
  • Prepare Assessment and Authorization (A&A) documents and procedures.
  • Collaborate with program ISSE and other Government security representatives.
  • Support adherence to all aspects of the Information Assurance (IA) program as stipulated by various USG requirements including but not limited to Director of Central Intelligence Directives (DCID), Intelligence Community Directive (ICD) 503 and associated NIST publications.
  • Support the design, development, implementation, and sustainment of secure government information systems.
  • Work closely with system owners, program managers, and security teams to protect mission-critical systems from evolving threats.
  • Engineer, implement, and maintain security controls for federal information systems in accordance with NIST SP 800-53 and the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • Develop and maintain system security documentation, including SSPs, Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms), security architecture diagrams, and continuous monitoring artifacts.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that strengthen the Sponsor's security posture.
  • Monitor security systems, analyze logs, and respond to security incidents or anomalies.


Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's Degree (Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a closely related discipline).
  • Required experience: 8+ years.
  • Experience supporting federal cybersecurity programs or government IT environments.
  • Strong knowledge of NIST SP 800-3, NIST SP 800-37 (RMF), and federal security compliance processes.
  • Familiarity with secure system design principles, encryption, identity management, and access control.
  • Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation for audits and accreditation.
  • Experience in executing scans using vulnerability scanning tools to include Nessus, AppDetective, WebInspect, and other vulnerability scanners.
  • Experience with the Sponsor's Assessment and Authorization (A&A) Tool.
  • Demonstrated experience with cyber security concepts to include encryption services, access control, information protection, and network security.
  • Experience with AWS cloud security compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience with creating and validating evidence for NIST security controls.
  • TS/SCI with Polygraph Required Day 1


Salary & Benefits
The salary associated with this position ($99,000-$206,000) is commensurate with the selected candidate's qualifications, years of relevant experience, and demonstrated level of expertise. Compensation will be determined based on these factors to ensure alignment with skills, responsibilities, and market standards.
