Union HVAC Controls Technician to install, service, and maintain building automation and HVAC control systems in commercial and industrial environments. This role focuses on ensuring optimal system performance, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort while adhering to union standards and safety practices.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain Building Automation Systems (BAS) and HVAC controls (DDC systems).
- Diagnose and repair control system issues, including sensors, actuators, controllers, and communication networks.
- Perform system programming, commissioning, and point-to-point verification.
- Interpret control drawings, schematics, and sequence of operations.
- Work on systems from major manufacturers (e.g., ALC, Distech, Niagara, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Trane, Honeywell, Schneider Electric).
- Coordinate with HVAC technicians, electricians, and facility teams to complete projects.
- Calibrate and test instrumentation for accuracy and compliance.
- Document service activities, system changes, and maintenance reports.
- Follow union work rules, safety protocols, and site-specific requirements.
Qualifications- Active membership or eligibility to join a recognized HVAC/controls union.
- 3+ years of experience in HVAC controls or building automation systems.
- Strong understanding of:
- DDC controls
- BACnet, Modbus, or ARCnet protocols
- Electrical systems and low-voltage wiring
- Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and control sequences.
- Experience with system programming and commissioning preferred.
- Valid driver's license
Preferred Skills- OEM factory certifications (ALC, Niagara, Distech, JCI, Siemens, etc.)
- Experience in mission-critical environments (labs, data centers, hospitals)
- Knowledge of energy management and optimization strategies
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
Work Environment- Commercial buildings, campuses, and industrial facilities
- Combination of indoor mechanical rooms and field work
- Occasional after-hours or emergency service
