Full Job Description

7-Eleven is seeking a Director of Sustainability to lead the development and execution of the company’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy. This role is responsible for advancing enterprise-wide initiatives, overseeing key programs, and measuring and reporting progress against established goals. The Director also serves as a key advisor and advocate, partnering with 7&i Holdings and external stakeholders to drive alignment and positive business impact.

 This role is 100% onsite based out of our Irving, Tx headquarters.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership

  • Lead the development and expansion of 7-Eleven’s new ESG strategy.

  • Ensure and influence strategic alignment of all ESG efforts with 7&i parent company to include short-and-long-term strategies.

  • Drive the ongoing implementation of all current ESG strategic initiatives while developing new initiatives in support of the strategy.

  • Provide budget oversight of all sustainability initiatives, including forecasting, reporting, and budget development.


Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert to ensure compliance with sustainability related, evaluate and mitigate market risks.

  • Build, manage, and align relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, non-profit organizations, and industry partners. Promote 7-Eleven’s ESG strategy and accomplishments.

  • Collaborate with the Legal, Regulatory, Government Affairs, and Accounting teams to monitor new regulatory requirements and changes in ESG standards in order to integrate sustainable practices across all lines of business.

Communications

  • Provide input into key areas of 7-Eleven’s communication strategy (i.e., Proxy Disclosures, Press Releases, Annual Reports, etc.)

  • Work with key 3rd party ESG advisors and data in the submission and communication of the Company’s accomplishments and monitor changes in ratings that may impact the Company’s overall ESG strategy.

  • Develop performance reporting and educational programming to educate 7-Eleven corporate employees, franchisees, and licensees on our ESG strategy and progress.

Team Leadership

  • Coach, lead and grow the ESG team to become comprehensive ESG subject matter experts.

  • Determine performance objectives that align to strategic initiatives.

Qualifications:

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred

  • 12+ years’ experience in ESG / sustainability leadership role

  • 7+ years' people management experience

  • Proven success with driving ESG strategy and measurement of goals

  • Executive-level presence and communication

  • Leadership of ESG strategy within a public company

  • Substantial knowledge of consumer brand, retail and retail fuel industry a plus

  • Global experience, particularly in Asia, is a plus
