DescriptionAbout the roleRylo is hiring a Head of Finance to own the financial foundation that helps the company make sharper decisions, operate with discipline, and scale with confidence.
This role is for a finance leader who wants real ownership. You'll build the systems, rhythms, models, and controls that connect company strategy to day-to-day execution. You'll work closely with leadership to turn financial insight into better planning, clearer tradeoffs, and stronger operating decisions.

What you will do- Own financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and reporting across the company.
- Build and maintain financial models that support operating decisions, scenario planning, and long-term planning.
- Partner with leadership on company performance, resource allocation, hiring plans, spend and vendor management, and strategic tradeoffs.
- Create clear reporting that helps the team understand revenue, costs, runway, margins, and business performance.
- Own cash flow, treasury, and financial risk - optimizing cash, investments, and returns.
- Establish the finance cadence for monthly close, variance analysis, forecast updates, and leadership reporting.
- Improve financial systems, processes, controls, and compliance so the company can operate with accuracy and speed.
- Own the audit and tax process end-to-end - internal reviews, external auditors, and accurate, on-time filings - alongside accounting, tax, and legal partners.
- Support investor and leadership materials with clear financial analysis and crisp storytelling.
- Identify risks, opportunities, and trends in the business, then turn them into practical recommendations.
- Partner with accounting, tax, legal, and other external partners as needed to ensure the finance function runs reliably.
- Build scalable finance processes that reduce manual work, improve data quality, and create better visibility for the company.
- Help leaders understand the financial impact of their decisions without slowing down execution.
Requirements- 5+ years of meaningful experience leading finance, strategic finance, FP&A, or finance operations in a high-growth company.
- Strong financial modeling skills and the ability to turn complex business questions into clear analysis.
- Experience owning budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and company-level planning processes.
- Solid grounding in accounting and controls - U.S. GAAP, audit, and cash/treasury management, with hands-on experience
- High judgment and strong business intuition. You know when to go deep, when to simplify, and when a decision needs more rigor.
- Clear communication skills, especially with executives, founders, and cross-functional leaders.
- Strong operating discipline. You're detail-oriented, reliable, and comfortable building repeatable processes from ambiguity.
- A business partner mindset. You don't just report the numbers, you help teams understand what they mean and what to do next.
- Comfort working in a startup environment where priorities can change and the right answer often requires judgment.
- Strong ownership. You see gaps, create structure, and follow through without waiting for perfect instructions.
- Integrity, discretion, and sound judgment when working with sensitive company information.
- This is a hybrid role based in New York City.
- Compensation: $160,000-$200,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
