You Are

You have spent years designing PCBs that actually work in the lab, not just pass design reviews. You understand that a high-speed board is a system of tradeoffs between signal integrity, power delivery, thermal constraints, and what the fab can actually build at a reasonable cost. You have debugged enough boards to know that the best designs are the ones that anticipate failure modes three steps ahead.

Managing a team comes naturally to you because you have been the person in the trenches. You know what it takes to get a complex board from schematic capture through layout, fabrication, and into the hands of validation engineers who need it to work on day one. You coach your engineers through SI simulations in HFSS, help them interpret stackup decisions, and push back when a design is heading toward an expensive dead end.

You do not just manage projects, you build capability. Your team documents their work clearly because you have seen what happens when tribal knowledge walks out the door. You value structured processes, not for bureaucracy's sake, but because repeatable design flows let your team move faster and with more confidence on the next build.

At Synopsys, you will lead hardware engineering for silicon validation. Your boards will enable SERDES testing, power integrity validation, and customer demos that matter. The lab is well equipped, the engineering problems are real, and your team's work directly impacts product quality.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead a hardware engineering team that designs and delivers PCBs, custom test equipment, and thermal solutions for silicon validation programs
• Design and optimize high-speed, high-power PCBs that support SERDES validation, ensuring transmission line performance meets test requirements
• Work directly with board layouts and schematics to place test points, route signal paths, and enable validation engineers to characterize silicon performance
• Run PI and SI simulations using HFSS to extract models, predict board performance, and catch issues before fabrication
• Debug hardware in the lab using oscilloscopes, power meters, thermal cameras, and other test equipment to diagnose and resolve signal integrity and power delivery issues
• Document board bring-up procedures, test protocols, and screening steps so lab technicians can commission and validate test hardware consistently
• Drive continuous improvement in hardware design processes, test coverage, and lab infrastructure across validation programs

• Support Synopsys product quality standards by ensuring validation hardware meets performance, interoperability, and reliability requirements
• Contribute to the long-term scalability of validation infrastructure as product complexity and speed requirements continue to increase

What You'll Need

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related discipline with 10+ years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 8+ years of experience
• 3+ years leading and managing engineering teams, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management
• Deep hands-on experience with the full PCB design cycle from requirements and schematic capture through layout, fabrication, assembly, and bring-up
• Direct experience interfacing with PCB fabrication houses to specify stackups, manage design-for-manufacturing constraints, and drive boards to production
• Proficiency with PI and SI simulation tools such as HFSS, ADS, or equivalent for modeling and optimizing high-speed board designs
• Strong troubleshooting skills using lab equipment including high-speed oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power meters, and thermal imaging tools
• Experience managing project timelines, coordinating cross-functional work, and delivering hardware on schedule in a product development environment

• You stay current with board design techniques, fabrication technologies, and test methodologies, and you bring that knowledge back to your team

You will work with a cross-functional engineering team of analog and digital designers and hardware engineers with a variety of backgrounds. Our R&D lab in Mississauga is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for high accuracy, high-speed test, and debug.
