The Analytics & Crowd Dynamics team at Buro Happold is challenged with the most unique, interesting people-centric projects around the world. This requires us to be at the forefront of innovation in the field to address the complex challenges of analysis, optimization and solutions for how people move and behave. We are disrupting how buildings and cities are planned, designed, and operated. We are putting people at the center of decision making, using people flow simulations and other methods to analyze crowd behavior, visitor movement and management. We are optimizing spaces such as airports, museums, theatres, workplaces, stadia , campuses and urban spaces. We take pride in delighting our clients by providing practical solutions that have significant positive impact on user experience, the performance of the venue or space and facilitating crowd management.

Your key duties

As a key part of the team, your responsibilities will be varied, but likely to include:
  • Work across several projects from a diverse range of sectors
  • Learn how to deliver top quality crowd flow / people movement consultancy working with our international clients and stakeholders
  • Learn people flow modeling or hone your modeling skills in high-profile projects
  • Use computational tools to automate or enhance workflow
  • Contribute fresh ideas in group meetings and team discussions
  • Support projects in data preparation, analysis and visualization, creating presentation slides and diagrams
  • With support from senior consultants, deliver and be accountable for developing static and dynamic models, preparing reports and providing findings and recommendations based on the analysis and data
  • Work alongside Project Managers to manage client expectations, carry out site observations and present project outcomes


Your skills and experience

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in a relevant subject including but not limited to architecture, urban planning/design, mathematics, economics, statistics, operational research, geo-spatial analysis, physics, organizational psychology, transport and engineering
  • Demonstrable experience analyzing and interpreting data
  • Experience using Rhino, Revit, or other modeling tools
  • Interest and/or experience in visual programming (Dynamo, Grasshopper), coding (Python, C#), and/or open source coding projects
  • Demonstrated experience using GIS software to analyze and visualize geospatial data (ArcGIS, QGIS)
  • Awareness of crowd modelling packages and their applications is helpful: Legion, Pathfinder, Mass Motion, Viswalk etc. or other modeling background such as traffic microsimulation beneficial
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud products (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) beneficial
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office especially Excel
  • Internship experience at an engineering related firm preferred, and proven interest in the built environment
  • Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible manner

  • Salary range of $80,000 to $83,000. This will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience
