About the RoleWe're hiring a Government Affairs Analyst to build Integrate's presence on Capitol Hill and across the executive branch. You'll join our Washington, DC team and work directly with our Managing Director of Washington Operations.
A lot of people have already done the hard work of making it easier for the government to buy commercial software. That momentum is a tailwind for us. Your job is to keep it going: know what's moving in policy, legislation, and appropriations, understand how it affects Integrate's ability to do business, and when something needs to change, for Integrate or for our whole sector, build the plan to change it.
That could mean shaping policy that makes modern program management a requirement, or finding an appropriation awarded to one of our customers that can fund the software their program needs. You'll work alongside our outside consultants and industry associations, and you'll be the person who makes sure the members, staff, and officials whose decisions affect our customers know who Integrate is.
This isn't a monitoring job. If you spot the opportunity, you own the plan.
What You'll Work On- Track legislation, appropriations, and executive branch policy across defense, intelligence, space, and emerging tech, and turn what matters into clear, actionable insight for leadership
- Identify the policy and funding levers that affect Integrate's ability to win business, then build and run plans to influence members of Congress, committee and personal staff, and executive branch officials
- Follow the NDAA and defense appropriations cycles end to end, from budget request to report language to final bill, looking for opportunities that support our customers' programs
- Build and maintain relationships with Hill staff, agency officials, and industry partners so Integrate has a known, trusted presence in DC
- Represent Integrate in industry associations and coalitions working on defense acquisition reform and commercial software adoption
- Coordinate with and help manage our outside government affairs consultants and lobbyists
- Draft briefing memos, one-pagers, policy positions, and meeting materials for leadership and external audiences
- Partner with our capture and business development team so policy work connects directly to pipeline
Policy Focus AreasDefense acquisition and commercial software adoption, the NDAA, defense and intelligence appropriations, intelligence authorization, space policy, and AI and emerging technology. The work also touches federal cybersecurity and export control requirements.
ExperienceWe don't expect you to check every box, but here's the kind of background that sets you up to succeed:
- 2-5+ years in government affairs, government relations, public policy, or a related federal role. Past titles like Policy Analyst, Government Affairs Analyst, Government Relations Coordinator, or Legislative Assistant fit well
- Working knowledge of the legislative process and the federal budget cycle; hands-on NDAA or defense appropriations experience is a strong plus
- Experience on the Hill, in an executive branch agency, at a trade association, or in a corporate or firm-side government affairs shop
- Existing relationships with defense, intelligence, or aerospace staff and officials
- Strong research and writing skills. You can turn a 1,000-page bill into a one-page brief someone will actually read
- Bachelor's degree in public policy, political science, international relations, economics, or a similar field; an advanced degree is a plus
- Defense, intelligence, or aerospace policy background is strongly preferred. If you've run the same playbook in an adjacent sector like energy and want to bring it to national security, we want to hear from you
Who You AreYou don't wait to be told which bill to read. You work well with autonomy, set your own priorities, and reprioritize fast when a markup schedule or the news cycle changes.
You care about national security and you're excited to work with defense and intelligence customers. You're comfortable in a room with a senior staffer or a program executive, you communicate clearly and briefly, and you always follow up.
You want to grow fast. At a startup, you'll take on more than your title says, and we'll invest in you as you do. Everyone here is leveling up together.
