GLOBAL SUPPLY MANAGER (INDUSTRIAL GASES SOURCING & LOGISTICS)The SpaceX supply chain department is a critical player in enabling SpaceX's mission. To capitalize on SpaceX's technology- and market-changing successes, our team will be part of managing an agile yet robust supply chain that will enable a competitive advantage for the company. The functions within the department include procurement, planning and fulfillment, supplier development and quality, logistics, and inventory. SpaceX's supply chain will play a key role in enabling SpaceX to meet ambitious growth targets and greatly contribute to making us a multi-planetary species. This individual will support fuel & gas supply, capital purchases, and projects for the production, test, and launch organizations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Create sourcing strategies for assigned categories to reduce risk and meet targets for the purchasing department including, but not limited to, payment terms, cash targets, and cost savings
- Develop and maintain key internal stakeholder relationships to create strategic sourcing models that optimize the value of products and services that support business unit requirements to maintain continuous cost reduction programs for controllable expenditures
- Present confidently to decision makers on launch critical response events
- Communicate, manage, and drive compliance to category strategies
- Identify and execute cost reduction projects including planning, coordinating with stakeholders, estimating completion, and project updates
- Perform advanced quantitative and business process analyses to identify financial impacts of decisions, cost improvement, and performance for assigned categories
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define Service Level Agreements and KPIs for suppliers and measure the appropriate criteria, such as: delivery of business results, cost reduction, quality, and timeliness of delivery
- Conduct research, perform benchmarking, and gather market analysis for assigned categories
- Create contract documents in collaboration with the legal department
- Manage contracts to ensure the performance of the supplier to contract obligations
- Understand interrelationships between contracts and terms while applying creativity and sound business reasoning to interpret the application of contracts to business needs
- Maximize value and cost savings benefits while lowering risk through strategic negotiations
- Identify and drive year-over-year cost optimization through reducing usage and eliminating waste within our operations
- Establish preferred suppliers for assigned categories
- Create and implement management programs to develop, continuously improve, manage the performance of, and monitor KPIs of the supply base
- Place purchase orders and resolve blocked invoices related to assigned categories
- Develop and lead efforts to reduce the number of transactions for assigned categories
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:- Advanced degree and 4+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; or bachelor's degree and 6+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; or 10+ years of experience working in one or more of the following:
- Engineering
- Purchasing
- Contract negotiation
- Material or production planning
- Operations or supply chain management
- Material cost control
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:- Strategic sourcing, category management, or procurement experience specifically in industrial gases (oxygen, nitrogen, argon, helium, hydrogen, CO₂, etc.) or related bulk chemical/gas commodities.
- Proven track record negotiating long-term supply agreements, volume commitments, and pricing with major industrial gas producers.
- Hands-on experience managing end-to-end logistics for bulk liquid and cylinder gases, including cryogenic tanker fleets, pipeline supply, on-site generation (ASUs/PSAs), cylinder fleets, and last-mile distribution.
- Strong background in total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis, supply risk mitigation, dual-sourcing strategies, and ensuring continuity of supply for critical manufacturing or production operations.
- Demonstrated success implementing supplier performance scorecards, quality/purity compliance programs, and logistics optimization (route planning, inventory management, safety stock for cryogenic products) while driving cost savings and service level improvements.
- Experience with technical procurement, manufacturing, or designing production components
- APICS certification
- Lean Six Sigma certification
- Ability to prove a strong track record of leadership and team building

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:- Ability to pass Air Force background checks for Cape Canaveral
- Must be able to travel - up to 25% of work week travel may be required, including international travel
- Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed to meet major milestones
- This position is based in Cape Canaveral, FL, and requires being onsite - remote work not considered
