Full Job Description
About the Role:

We are seeking a commercial General Manager (office and retail) who takes pride in elevating tenant experiences while maintaining excellent property standards at Postmedia Place. In this management position, you will take ownership of site performance, overseeing daily operations, steering property finances and preventive maintenance, while leading a high-performing team of site team members and building operators.

Postmedia Place supports a vibrant community of over 500 professionals working on site. The property features a 3-level underground parking garage with 550 stalls, major anchors like No Frills, McDonald's, and Rexall, and everyday conveniences like a medical clinic, aesthetic services, and diverse dining options. In this role, you will play a central part in driving occupancy, managing vendor relationships, and safeguarding asset value.

What You'll Do:

  • Maintain property standards across the building, managing tenant inquiries, resolving operational issues, and cultivating an exceptional tenant experience.
  • Oversee daily property function, perform regular inspections of physical grounds and vacant units, execute preventive maintenance schedules (HVAC, elevators), identify deficiencies and manage emergency protocols.
  • Prepare annual operating budgets, capital expenditure programs, manage variance reports, analyze monthly general ledgers, authorize purchase orders, and meet key performance indicators for occupancy and revenue.
  • Stay on top of industry knowledge of market rents/lease rates, market conditions, competitor information and identify market risks, while working with brokers to best market the property.
  • Direct, mentor, and evaluate site staff across administration and building operations, fostering collaboration, and managing performance.
  • Lead the tendering process for vendor services, supervise contracted work for quality and cost-effectiveness, and ensure strict compliance with Health & Safety, WHMIS, AODA, and municipal bylaws.

Who You Are:

You are an experienced commercial property leader and strong relationship-builder who thrives in a fast-paced environment, leads with accountability, and is passionate about maintaining a strong sense of community. You bring a proactive mindset, deep operational and financial acumen, strong understanding of the commercial leasing environment and proven experience leading site teams. With a strong grasp of property budgeting, preventive maintenance, and vendor oversight, you excel at balancing exceptional tenant satisfaction with overall business performance and asset value.

  • 7+ years of property management experience with demonstrated success overseeing high-performing commercial assets, specifically across both retail and office portfolios.
  • Experienced in annual budget development, financial reporting, variance analysis, and managing property operational costs.
  • Skilled in property management systems (Yardi) and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong working knowledge of local property standards, occupational health and safety, WHMIS, AODA, and the Privacy Act.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with an ability to make sound decisions, manage priorities under tight deadlines, and resolve complex challenges.
