Role Overview:Shape the developer experience that Genesys engineering teams rely on to build, deploy, and operate cloud services. As a Software Engineer II, Full Stack - Developer Experience, you will help create a more consistent, intuitive experience across internal developer tools, reducing friction for engineers and making common workflows easier to understand and self-service.
You will combine strong frontend and full-stack engineering skills with AWS and production systems knowledge to improve tools including Grand Central and connected development platforms. Your work will span responsive web applications, reusable UI patterns and components, APIs, backend services, CI/CD workflows, observability, and cloud architecture.
This role offers meaningful ownership of how engineers interact with Genesys development platforms. You will investigate problems across systems, influence technical and user experience decisions, and collaborate with engineers to improve reliability, scalability, maintainability, and consistency across a distributed tooling ecosystem.
Collaboration, curiosity, and disciplined problem solving are central to the team. You will work closely with engineering partners in Indianapolis and Budapest, receive direct technical mentorship, and expand your experience across AWS, distributed systems, developer platforms, modern web development, and AI-assisted engineering practices while contributing to platform-level initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:- Build scalable full-stack applications and internal developer tools that simplify engineering workflows and improve developer self-service
- Drive a consistent developer experience across internal platforms by establishing reusable UI components, interaction patterns, terminology, and information models
- Design responsive, high-quality web experiences using JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, and modern frontend technologies, with strong attention to usability and application performance
- Improve existing services and architecture to increase scalability, availability, maintainability, and production reliability across distributed environments
- Develop integrations across APIs, endpoints, microservices, and backend systems to create cohesive experiences across independently developed tools
- Strengthen production health by incorporating testing, metrics, logging, monitoring, and observability into application and microservice design
- Advance software quality through unit and integration testing, thoughtful code reviews, and disciplined validation of both human-written and AI-assisted code
- Improve continuous delivery practices for AWS-based applications, enabling efficient, dependable, and repeatable releases into production
- Collaborate with distributed engineering teams to resolve technical dependencies, investigate failures, and turn complex system behavior into practical solutions
- Influence technical design decisions by challenging assumptions, identifying root causes, and proposing improvements that strengthen the developer experience and underlying platform
Required Qualifications:- 3 to 5 years of relevant software engineering, full-stack development, or frontend-focused application engineering experience
- Strong experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, and Node.js, including modern ECMAScript capabilities
- Demonstrated experience building modern single-page applications with a strong understanding of UI and UX engineering principles
- Experience with a modern frontend framework such as React, Vue, Angular, or Ember
- Practical experience with Amazon Web Services and developing or supporting cloud-based applications in AWS
- Strong understanding of APIs, endpoints, HTTP behavior, error handling, and interactions between frontend and backend systems
- Demonstrated understanding of scalability, availability, reliability, and production health within distributed systems
- Working knowledge of browser JavaScript APIs, including the DOM, postMessage, and local storage
- Experience with JavaScript development tooling and package ecosystems such as npm, Babel, webpack, or Rollup
- Proficiency with Git-based version control, collaborative code review, and modern software development workflows
- Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery practices for cloud-based software
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, including the ability to investigate unfamiliar systems, reason through failures, and pursue root causes independently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across colocated and distributed engineering teams
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent relevant industry experience
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience building and supporting production React applications
- Experience with AWS services such as Amazon S3, CloudFront, Route 53, DynamoDB, and AWS CloudFormation
- Experience developing internal developer platforms, developer portals, engineering productivity tools, or other self-service developer tooling
- Experience creating reusable frontend components, component libraries, design systems, or shared UI and interaction patterns
- Experience developing or integrating REST APIs using frameworks such as Spring Boot, Flask, or Django
- Experience operating production-level single-page applications, including monitoring, troubleshooting, observability, and service health practices
- Experience working with microservices, distributed systems, and applications that integrate with multiple backend technologies or codebases
- Experience using AI-assisted software development tools with disciplined validation, testing, and review of generated code
