The Field Quality Director is a key asset in our field operations to ensure GMF's standards of excellence are achieved in safety, quality, and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Observe, inspect, and provide reports on GMF projects for compliance with plans and specifications regarding workmanship, materials, installation and construction methods, in accordance with AWS D1.1, D1.3, AISC Chapter N, and RCSC.
- Perform structural & miscellaneous steel welding and erection inspections in accordance with AWS, AISC, RCSC standards, and bolting.
- Perform surveying and dimensional checks.
- Work with field crews for in-process inspections.
- Provide recommendations or necessary changes to the project team regarding contract plans and specifications relative to all phases of GMF scope of work.
- Provide surveillance at project sites and assist project team in problem resolution.
- Review and maintain qualification and performance records to assure compliance.
- Follow, maintain, and Improve GMF's AISC Certification Program.
- Liaise Between Shop, Detailing, Purchasing, and Project Teams to maintain quality AISC standards.
- Certify that all welders have met qualification and performance requirements.
- Review change orders, modifications, RFIs, and submittals.
- Monitor project's schedule.
- Review and ensure QA and safety plans are adhered to by the site personnel.
Qualifications:
- CWI Certification preferred.
- Ability to read structural steel drawings.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently.
- Willingness to travel overnight, approximately 30-50 days a year, and work overtime when needed.
- Familiar with AWS D1.1, D1.3, AISC Chapter N, and RCSC.
- Comfortable working at heights and using 100% tie-off.
- Experience working at heights and maneuvering structural steel.
- Capable of lifting at least 40 lbs.
- Bilingual a plus.
- Structural steel welding/ironworking experience preferred.
- Familiar with structural steel tolerances.
- Experience writing reports and using excel.
- Document results to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
- Perform bolt and weld inspections on structural steel.
- Will require "walking steel" and working at heights.
- Check and document column plumbness.
- Teach field personnel about tolerances and code requirements.
Salary:
- $125,000-$180,000
- Dependent upon experience
- Eligible for a Performance Bonus
