Job Description

The Feature Lead serves as the technology owner for a business capability, application portfolio, or strategic platform within Global Markets Technology (GMT) Canada. The role is responsible for defining technology strategy, driving architecture decisions, shaping roadmaps, and leading execution across business and technology teams.

This is a player-coach role that combines technology strategy, architecture leadership, and hands-on engineering. The Feature Lead is expected to remain close to the technology by contributing to solution design, proof-of-concepts, code reviews, critical development activities, and complex problem resolution, while influencing the long-term direction of the platform.

The Feature Lead partners with business stakeholders, architects, engineers, and delivery teams to modernize platforms, improve resiliency, accelerate AI adoption, and ensure technology investments align with business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technology vision, strategy, architecture, and roadmap for assigned business capabilities or platforms.

  • Drive technology strategy and architecture while maintaining hands-on involvement in solution design, proof-of-concepts, code reviews, troubleshooting complex technical challenges, and critical development activities.

  • Lead architectural decisions and ensure solutions align with enterprise standards, engineering best practices, and long-term business objectives.

  • Drive platform modernization, technical debt reduction, automation, AI adoption, and engineering productivity improvements.

  • Partner with business stakeholders to translate strategic objectives into technology solutions and investment priorities.

  • Play a key role in Agile delivery and PI Planning by helping define technical priorities, assessing risks and dependencies, refining work, and shaping delivery plans.

  • Influence engineering direction across teams and mentor developers on architecture, design patterns, and engineering best practices.

  • Promote operational excellence, platform resiliency, observability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, architecture, or technology leadership roles.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Java, Python, and SQL.

  • Experience designing, developing, and evolving large-scale enterprise applications and distributed systems.

  • Strong understanding of software architecture, APIs, cloud technologies, CI/CD, modern engineering practices, and AI-assisted development tools.

  • Experience working in Agile environments, including PI Planning, backlog management, dependency coordination, estimation, and delivery planning.

  • Demonstrated ability to balance hands-on software engineering with technology strategy, architecture ownership, and technical leadership.

  • Proven ability to influence technology direction across multiple teams and stakeholders.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in Capital Markets, Global Markets, Fixed Income, Credit, Equities, Derivatives, Post-Trade, Risk, or Operations Technology.

  • Experience adopting and scaling AI-enabled engineering practices, intelligent automation, agentic workflows, developer productivity tools, and software delivery optimization.

  • Technology strategy and roadmap development.

  • Application and solution architecture.

  • AI adoption, intelligent automation, agentic workflows, and engineering productivity tools.

  • Modern engineering practices, cloud platforms, APIs, and event-driven systems.

  • Hands-on experience delivering solutions using technologies such as React, Angular, TypeScript, Flask, and C#, along with enterprise and cloud data platforms including Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and Snowflake.

  • Modernization, platform simplification, and engineering transformation initiatives.

Pay range

$141,100.00 - $165,000.00 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.

Discretionary incentive eligible

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan. Employees are eligible for an annual discretionary award based on their overall individual performance results and behaviors, the performance and contributions of their line of business and/or group; and the overall success of the Company.
