Job DescriptionExpert Solutions ArchitectWilmington, DEMonday - Friday 8:00 - 5:00 EDTHybridThe Expert Architect plays a critical leadership role in shaping the future-state architecture of the Corporate and Legal Solutions (CLS) Technology Solutions Group. Working across Engineering, Product, and Business teams, you will drive architectural strategy, technology modernization, and platform evolution to enable the delivery of innovative products and capabilities. This role provides technical leadership through architecture governance, standards, and mentorship, helping teams build secure, resilient, and scalable solutions. Success is measured by the ability to influence outcomes, align technology decisions with business goals, and foster architectural excellence across the organization.
Some of the things you will be doing:Best Practices & Technologies
- Partner with CLS application teams to guide architectural and design decisions, technology selection, and adoption of best practices and patterns, ensuring applications are scalable, secure, resilient, maintainable, and aligned with CLS strategic objectives.
- Respond promptly to requests for architectural guidance and technical consultation.
- Proactively identify teams, initiatives, or challenges that could benefit from architectural support.
- Facilitate collaboration across application teams to promote knowledge sharing, consistency, and successful project outcomes.
- Leverage AI capabilities where appropriate to improve quality, productivity, innovation, and operational efficiency. Share best practices, lessons learned, and emerging AI opportunities across the CLS architecture community.
- Collaborate with partner organizations across CLS and CSC (e.g., SRE, ET API Services, ET CIAM) to understand, align with, and leverage shared platforms, services, and standards that contribute to application success.
- Continuously evaluate CLS applications, platforms, and development practices to identify opportunities to improve quality, security, performance, resiliency, developer productivity, and operational efficiency.
- Present technical strategies, architecture recommendations, risks, and trade-offs to senior technology and business leaders.
Architecture Community
- Provide architecture leadership across application, integration, data, and platform domains within the CLS portfolio.
- Lead architecture reviews and design assessments to ensure adherence to CLS architectural principles, security standards, and engineering best practices.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, architectural excellence, and continuous improvement.
Priority Projects
As an Agile organization, CLS generally has important, priority work (planned and unplanned) that may require assistance to complete.
- Assist with analysis/research projects to produce recommendations, technology evaluations, risk assessments, or strategic recommendations. These efforts frequently inform strategic and technology decisions made by leadership.
- Assist with tactical projects that need assistance and expertise. These can be stand-alone mini-projects or existing projects that require experienced, hands-on assistance to achieve their goal(s).
- Develop and maintain architectural roadmaps that balance business priorities, technical debt reduction, modernization initiatives, and cloud adoption strategies.

What technical skills, experience, and qualifications do you need?- 10+ years of experience as a web application software developer/engineer
- 5+ years of experience as a team technical lead or software architect.
- Strong technical expertise in web-based application architecture, cloud-native technologies, data architecture concepts, and Agile delivery methodologies (Scrum and Kanban).
- Experience designing and supporting cloud-native applications and distributed systems.
- Understanding of application security, identity management, and secure-by-design principles.
- Experience leveraging AI-assisted development and architecture practices.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to change gears quickly, self-motivate, and ensure progress on multiple concurrent projects. Communicate progress with your manager and teams with whom you participate.
- Willingness to get involved in a variety of topics and projects.
- Ability to establish rapport through professionalism, honesty, and respectful collaboration.
- Demonstrate the ability to influence technical decisions through collaboration, data-driven recommendations, and diplomacy rather than direct authority.
