We are seeking a driven Equity Research Associate to join our award-winning team of sell-side equity researchers covering the healthcare sector;, one of the most dynamic and high-impact areas in today's capital markets.

What You Will Do
  • Conduct regular scientific and market due diligence on covered companies, including channel checks on assigned names
  • Interpret scientific publications and medical conference presentations to inform investment theses
  • Conduct surveys with key medical opinion leaders to validate clinical and commercial assumptions
  • Support coverage spanning oncology, rare-disease, and technology-platform companies and their therapeutic assets
  • Build, update, and maintain detailed financial models and company databases
  • Conduct regular financial and market due diligence on covered companies
  • Collect and analyze industry data and develop proprietary sector databases
  • Assist with the timely preparation and publication of research notes and reports
  • Interact with corporate management and our internal sales force
  • Provide general support to the broader equity research team, including company research, industry due diligence, and special projects as assigned
  • Perform other tasks and duties as required and assigned


Experience and Skills
  • Advanced degree in life sciences (MD, PhD) preferred; Bachelor's degree from an accredited university required
  • Active FINRA Licenses including SIE, Series 86 & 87 preferred; will be required to obtain them within 120 days of start date if not currently active
  • Superb quantitative and analytical skills
  • Exceptionally strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to work independently and within a team, prioritizing daily workflow with little direction
  • Advanced Excel skills essential; experience building financial models a plus
  • Strong work ethic and a great attitude with an ability to perform duties under minimal supervision

The reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic location. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $100,000-$150,000 depending on experience. Colleagues may be eligible for additional, discretionary incentive compensation based on the colleague's and the firm's performance. At Wedbush, Decisions regarding compensation are determined on a case-by-case basis and are dependent on a variety of factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
