JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities

  • Innovative R&D Equipment Engineer to support R&D development systems related to ion beam implantation.
  • Act the tool owner for multiple engineering assets including maintenance, repair and interfacing with facilities and engineering on performing upgrades.
  • Perform installation and replacement of required gases and chemicals used on system using required safety approved procedures. Responsible for ensuring all required safety interlocks are operational. 
  • Be responsible for running tests and experiments as specified by R&D team, and perform data formatting and analysis. Present findings and improvements to cross-functional teams.
  • Develop and install instrumentation and measurements systems as needed for systems.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide feedback and input to engineering teams on system improvements.
  • Provide documentation support such as creating/maintaining drawings, procedures, test procedures, test data
  • Person may be required to interact with on-site manufacturing warehouse and equipment engineering teams.
  • Domestic and international travel to support R&D activities (<10%)

Qualifications

  • B.S. in engineering or equivalent experience. 3-10 years of experience required. Hiring level will be commiserate with capability and experience.
  • Able to work with cross-functional teams. Excellent teamwork and collaboration attitude required.
  • Creativity and strong problem solving skills required to work in research type projects with high uncertainty and ambiguity.
  • Strong communicator and able to explain complex technical issues with depth and clarity in verbal, written and presentation formats.
  • Ability to read parts and assemblies drawings. Ability to read and update electrical and controls schematics.
  • Experience working with toxic and hazardous gases/chemicals. Experience working with high voltage equipment. Well versed in safety equipment and protocols.
  • Ability to stand long hours and lift >35 lbs. No physical limitations on able to perform required tasks on complex systems.


​Preferred Experience

  • Experience working on complex semiconductor processing equipment or similar systems. Experience working on ion beam, plasma and RF related systems.
  • Experience with data analysis in excel and/or statistics software packages.
  • Experience programming lab automation software like Labview or similar.

U.S. BASE SALARY RANGE

$89,082.24 - $133,623.36

This base salary range reflects the typical compensation for this role across U.S. locations.

Our salary ranges are determined by role and level; individual pay is determined based on

multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, work

location, and internal equity. The range provides the opportunity for growth and progression as

you develop within the role.

Base pay is one part of our U.S. total compensation package which includes eligibility in the

Axcelis Team Incentive bonus plan, and comprehensive benefits package (for regular

employees working 20+ hours a week).
