Job Description
Job Summary:
Centrus Energy is seeking an experienced group manager for field Construction Engineering that will plan and control field execution of facility modifications and new installations at the American Centrifuge Plant (ACP) on the DOE Portsmouth reservation in Piketon, Ohio. The ACP operates under a NRC license, requiring rigorous safety, quality, and regulatory discipline in construction and turnover activities. This supports evolving mission needs and infrastructure changes across a range of potential enrichment and processing operations. Overall scope of construction planned is over $1B over the next five years.
What You Will Do:
Management of field construction management/engineering group that will include construction managers over designed program areas, each with direct construction engineers
Support project planning, included contracted scopes, cost, schedule, risks, and opportunities to construct the ACPx projects. Projects will include renovation of legacy and construction of new nuclear quality class structures
Oversee construction managers and construction engineers on the ACPx projects. Provide day-to-day interface with EPC procurement, EPC Area managers, EPC Deputy Director, and EPC Director
Support constructability reviews of conceptual and detailed design outputs including statements of work (SOWs), specifications, and drawings
Oversees staff that supports execution of design outputs via contracted companies into executable work deliverables including but not limited to permits, procedures, testing, hold points, and acceptance criteria. Sponsor team resolution of RFIs/RFCs, manage redlines, and drive as-built documentation to maintain configuration control
Support or lead construction scopes administered via EPC and specialty contractors - monitor cost, schedule, and performance; enforce contract requirements; and manage change orders and progress verification
Ensure group regulatory compliance during field execution that aligns with applicable codes/standards (e.g., NEC/NFPA/OSHA/IEEE), site procedures, and the ACP licensing/regulatory framework governing operations at Piketon
Champion safety first within construction staff including industrial and electrical safety (LO/TO, arc-flash controls) and DOE/nuclear-quality expectations during pre-job briefs, hazard analyses, and audits; verify contractor compliance and immediate corrective action for deficiencies
Plan and witness construction tests, ensure punch-list completion, and coordinate functional testing/energization with operations to achieve Ready-for-Operations and clean handover packages
Provide clear field status, risks, and mitigations to project managers and site leadership; coordinate interfaces with DOE/utility stakeholders as needed for power or site services
Capture lessons learned and propose procedural or design feedback to reduce rework and improve constructability on future ACP/HALEU scopes
