What Your Day Will Look Like:Consor Canada is looking for a skilled and motivated Environmental GIS Analyst to support our growing and diverse environmental and engineering consulting business in Canada. You'll collaborate with a highly skilled and supportive team on meaningful environmental and engineering projects across a variety of industry sectors, including municipal infrastructure, aggregate and metal mining, energy, and land development. As part of this, your skills and expertise will contribute to environmental planning and design solutions through GIS analysis, spatial modelling, mapping, and technical reporting. Projected Compensation: $75,000 - $115,000/year CAD
What You'll Do:- Provide GIS and geospatial support across a broad range of environmental and engineering projects:
- Baseline characterization studies and effects assessments to support environmental assessments and other development planning initiatives
- Natural heritage studies including wildlife and vegetation surveys, terrestrial and aquatic habitat mapping, and ecological land classification
- Archaeology desktop studies, assessments and excavations
- Hydrological and hydrogeological studies
- Stormwater management planning
- Flood and erosion hazard management and mitigation
- Environmental permitting and regulatory approval activities
- Develop high-quality mapping products, web maps, dashboards, story maps, and spatial analyses to support project planning, design, permitting, and stakeholder engagement.
- Create, maintain, and manage GIS databases, geodatabases, data collection systems, and spatial data standards.
- Conduct environmental and engineering analyses using geospatial datasets including LiDAR, orthophotography, satellite imagery, drone imagery, terrain models, watershed datasets, natural heritage information, archaeological datasets, and municipal infrastructure data.
- Contribute to technical reports, proposals, presentations and other key client deliverables.
- Develop positive working relationships and collaborate in a highly dynamic and supportive team environment.
- Provide creative and innovative solutions for projects by staying current on relevant regulatory drivers, emerging technologies, and market demands.
What You'll Need:- 5+ years of consulting or industry-related experience, with demonstrated strengths in
communication, problem-solving, project delivery, and collaboration. - Diploma or Degree in GIS, Geography, Engineering Technology or related discipline.
- Strong proficiency with ESRI platform, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and mobile applications.
- Familiarity with key public data sources in Ontario and mapping tools for a range of environmental consulting projects including ecology, hydrogeology, hydrology and/or archaeology.
- Working knowledge of coordinate systems, projections, spatial databases, metadata standards, and GIS data management best practices.
- Experience developing field data collection workflows and managing spatial data collected in the field.
- Proficiency with processing and interpreting LiDAR, UAV/drone, orthophotography, satellite imagery, and other remote sensing datasets.
- Experience with Python, ModelBuilder, Arcade, SQL, or other GIS automation tools is considered a strong asset.
- Working knowledge of municipal standards, engineering and environmental legislation, policies and regulatory approval processes.
