Enterprise Reporter, Business

Job Description:

The Boston Globe is looking for an ambitious, urgent, and sophisticated journalist to join our Business team as an Enterprise Reporter.

This is a premier job in our newsroom, and we're looking for an elite reporter and writer to fill it - someone who can execute on a wide range of stories, from deeply-reported narratives to quick-hit investigations to smart, bright takes that explain what's going on in our economy and key industries. We need someone who can take the wheel on the big news of the day, but who can also step back and craft the longer-form story that no one will forget, whether it's about workplace culture, corporate accountability, or the future of downtown Boston.

You'd be part of our 18-person Business department, and you'd partner frequently with other corners of the newsroom, so we're looking for someone who's flexible and collaborative by nature and who sees new angles and reporting lanes clearly. We also want someone who's comfortable working across platforms, from video to audio to newsletters. Experience doing top-tier business journalism is a big plus, but more important is the skill to spot great stories, report them deeply, and tell them in creative ways that engage our readers and break new ground.

If this sounds like you, please get in touch.

  • Embrace alternative storytelling formats, including video, audio, and newsletters.

Qualifications:
  • Five-plus years of journalism experience at a major-market publication.
  • Ability to write clean, compelling copy on deadline.
  • A skilled writer who can elevate good stories into great ones.

  • A team player who works well in a group setting.
  • A willingness to adapt and be audience-focused, with a curious mindset and a commitment to creating an inclusive work environment.

Bonus Points if You...
  • Have data, investigative, or language skills - if you have them, let us know.

We know that there are strong candidates who may not fit precisely into what we've described above or who have important skills we haven't thought of. If that's you, don't hesitate to apply and tell us about yourself.

Compensation: $74,911 - $120,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
