Responsibilities :
Review and verify the thermal design of the boiler to assure all process guarantees are incorporated in the design cases for specifying instrumentation.
Determine from the process conditions supplied by the Mechanical Engineer the designing cases (min/max flows, design temperature, etc.) for the instrumentation.
Prepare bills of material, instrument specifications, and cost estimates for instrumentation and trim, to support the sales and applications group. Verify that selected components and designs meet with all code requirements (ASME/ANSI, NEC, UL, ISA, NFPA, etc.)
Review project documents: Technical proposal, SOR, and customer specifications.
Interface with internal and external customers for project review and technical assistance.
Provide technical support for field personnel for trim, and instrument, related issues.
Create the Instrument Bill of Materials for the job Review vendor drawings for trim, instruments, and related auxiliary equipment.
Create the specification sheets for the Instrument Bill of Material items that require detailed descriptions and process conditions (control valves, desuperheaters, flow elements, etc.)
Work with Trim Specialist to incorporate the Instrument Bill of Materials into the PID.
Check/Verify the Engineering Piping Specification Line List created by the Trim Specialist. Verify all design pressures/temperatures. Check the PID to ensure the line list is correctly referred to on the PID.
Check the PID, Trim Bill of Material, and drum trim drawings created by the Trim Specialist meet all job and code requirements.
Check/Verify the drum trim drawings created by the Trim Specialist are correct to drum instrumentation specified.
Create the Trim Nameplate Code Stamp sheet from the Mechanical Engineer's performance runs. Specify relief valve capacities/setpoints and complete specification sheets.
Verify the customer supplied pump curves meet all design requirements of the boiler. Work with the mechanical engineer to ensure all Deltak supplied pumps meet process requirements. Use the pump curves to develop design process conditions for affected instrumentation.
Assist in the development of new standards that can be used in the trim and instrument group.
Assist in the training and development of the Trim specialist in the trim and instrument group.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of experience and education at discretion of Management
Technical experience in Heat Transfer, Fluid flow, or related area.
Understanding of ASME code - Section I and Section VIII/Division I, preferred.
Good communication and organizational skills.
