ABOUT THE ROLEThe Engineer I is an advanced beginner-level professional who supports the engineering, design, and development of utility scale renewable energy projects, including solar, BESS, and hybrid systems. This role focuses on learning CSI standards and processes, executing well-defined tasks under supervision, and producing accurate, timely drafting and basic engineering deliverables.
Essential Functions- Understand and follow CSI policies and procedures; adhere to drafting and file management standards.
- Assist in developing bid ready drawing packages and client documentation deliverables:
- Renewable Energy Power and Distribution Systems (Low Voltage, Medium Voltage, and exposure to High Voltage)
- Emergency, Standby Generator, and UPS Systems (basic layouts, equipment schedules)
- Grounding Systems (equipment and safety)
- Develop and Modify Single Line Diagrams
- Perform basic engineering calculations with guidance: voltage drop, conduit/cable sizing, preliminary fault current checks.
- Prepare quantity take-offs and support estimating with defined inputs.
- Redline and update drawings per Senior Engineers' direction; maintain version control.
- Support site audits by documenting existing conditions.
- Coordinate internally with Civil, CAD, procurement, and construction on assigned tasks.
- Draft RFI's with senior oversight; track action items.
- Learn and apply NEC/CEC, IEEE, and local code requirements under supervision.
- Contribute to team templates/tools by documenting lessons learned.
- Participate in project kickoff meetings, design reviews, and customer meetings.
- Contribute to the development of engineering templates, calculation tools, processes, and standard operating procedures.
- Become familiar with current renewable energy technologies, industry trends, and relevant code updates.

ABOUT YOUQualifications- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred. Prefer the degree is from a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board fro Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum.
- 1+ years of experience in electrical/renewable energy design (utility scale preferred).
- EIT preferred or in progress.
- Exposure to Title-24 desirable.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities- Foundational understanding of discipline specific design principles, engineering principles, and construction practices.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specs, and datasheets.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Bluebeam, and basic AutoCAD workflows; exposure to PVSyst preferred.
- Basic understanding of engineering theories & principles, and practices of researching engineering and design issues.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- Familiarity with NEC/CEC and local codes.
- Team-oriented attitude and coachability.
Physical Demands- Frequently works outdoors on uneven surfaces.
- May be required to sit or stand for long periods.
- May be required to stoop, bend, and crouch and navigate construction environments.
- Ability to travel up to 30% to project, vendor, or client sites.
Work Environment- This position is primarily office-based but will require periodic field assignments and travel to project sites.
- Works in a climate-controlled environment 50% of the time.
- May work in varying weather conditions: hot, cold, and wet conditions.
- Frequently works in areas with large industrial equipment subject to high noise levels.
- May work in proximity to high-voltage electrical systems.
- May occasionally work in areas with hazardous chemicals.

WHAT WE OFFERCompensation & Benefits- Salary $95,000-$120,000/ year
- Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. CSI reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the selected candidate's qualifications.
