JOB SUMMARYAn Electrical Superintendent oversees all electrical construction activities on assigned projects, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Valid Journeyman Electrician license required; Master Electrician license preferred where applicable.
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive electrical construction experience, including supervisory and project leadership roles.
KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES- Demonstrated experience managing multiple crews, foremen, and large-scale commercial, industrial, or utility projects.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, installation methods, construction practices, and project execution.
- Thorough understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC), OSHA regulations, and applicable local codes.
- Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, engineering drawings, and construction documents.
- Strong leadership, team-building, and personnel management skills.
- Experience with project scheduling, resource planning, budgeting, and productivity management.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with clients, contractors, project managers, inspectors, and field personnel.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and construction/project management software.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES- Provide overall leadership and supervision of electrical construction activities on assigned projects.
- Manage and coordinate electrical foremen, supervisors, subcontractors, and field personnel to achieve project objectives.
- Plan, schedule, and oversee daily and long-term project operations to ensure work is completed safely, on time, and within budget.
- Review project plans, specifications, drawings, and contracts to ensure proper execution of work.
- Coordinate labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor resources to maximize productivity and efficiency.
- Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions to address schedule delays, quality concerns, or resource constraints.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with National Electrical Code (NEC), OSHA regulations, project specifications, and local requirements.
- Conduct regular job site inspections to verify quality, safety, and adherence to company standards.
- Work closely with project managers to develop and maintain project schedules, manpower forecasts, and budgets.
- Collaborate with clients, engineers, inspectors, general contractors, and other trades to resolve project issues and maintain positive working relationships.
- Lead preconstruction planning, project startup, and commissioning activities.
- Identify and resolve technical, operational, and workforce challenges affecting project performance.
- Monitor labor productivity and implement strategies to improve efficiency and cost control.
- Ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials, tools, and equipment needed for project success.
- Review and approve field reports, timekeeping records, production reports, and other project documentation.
- Conduct safety meetings, enforce safety policies, and promote a culture of safety throughout all project activities.
- Mentor, coach, and develop foremen and field personnel to strengthen leadership and technical capabilities.
- Participate in hiring, workforce planning, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions as needed.
- Coordinate inspections and ensure corrective actions are completed to satisfy regulatory and customer requirements.
- Manage project closeout activities, including punch lists, documentation, testing, commissioning, and client turnover.
- Respond to project emergencies and implement solutions to minimize disruptions.
- Maintain clear communication with executive leadership regarding project status, risks, opportunities, and resource needs.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, safety, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
