- Review electrical designs for manufacturability, installation access, serviceability, and error prevention.
- Coordinate engineering changes and ensure production documents reflect the correct revisions.
Wiring and Harness Quality
- Establish inspection criteria for in-house and supplier-built wiring harnesses, including wire gauge, length, identification, pin assignments, terminal crimps, connector assembly, and workmanship.
- Develop pre-installation verification procedures to detect wiring errors before harnesses are installed in vehicles.
- Define and implement continuity, short-circuit, polarity, and other applicable electrical checks.
- Verify that installed wiring has appropriate routing, support, protection, clearance, and strain relief.
- Establish inspection requirements for HV cables and connections, including shielding, connector engagement, torque verification, and separation from other systems.
- Investigate recurring defects and implement corrective actions to reduce rework and improve assembly quality.
Prototype Development and Functional Testing
- Support electrical assembly, commissioning, and functional verification of prototype vehicles and newly developed products.
- Develop inspection plans, test procedures, acceptance criteria, and test records in coordination with design engineering and quality.
- Troubleshoot wiring, power distribution, grounding, sensors, actuators, controllers, and vehicle communication networks.
- Support HV system integration and troubleshooting involving battery packs, contactors, pre-charge circuits, inverters, DC/DC converters, and charging systems.
- Perform or support high-voltage interlock loop (HVIL), insulation resistance, and other specified HV system checks using approved procedures.
- Support approved controller programming, software loading, and parameter configuration while maintaining configuration traceability.
- Document test results and coordinate issue resolution and retesting before production release.
Production Support and Continuous Improvement
- Provide hands-on technical support and train production personnel on electrical assembly, inspection, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Lead root-cause investigations for electrical manufacturing defects and verify the effectiveness of corrective actions.
- Improve assembly methods, workstation layouts, tooling, and test processes to increase consistency and efficiency.
- Capture lessons learned from prototype builds and incorporate them into production documentation.
- Work with suppliers to resolve harness and electrical component manufacturing issues.
Safety and Work Area Organization
