About the RoleSalient Motion is looking for a detail-oriented Electrical Technician to join our production/engineering team, with a primary focus on PCB rework, soldering, and hands-on assembly support. You'll work closely with our electrical and manufacturing engineers to build, repair, and troubleshoot circuit assemblies to a high standard of quality and precision.
What You'll Do- Perform through-hole and surface-mount (SMT) soldering, including fine-pitch components, BGAs, and micro-connectors
- Execute rework and repair on PCB assemblies: component removal/replacement, trace repair, jumper wires, and conformal coating touch-up
- Inspect solder joints and assemblies using microscopes and visual/AOI standards (IPC-A-610 or equivalent)
- Build and test cable assemblies and wiring harnesses
- Support prototype builds and engineering change orders (ECOs), including quick-turn rework for R&D
- Use hand tools, hot air rework stations, soldering irons, and reflow equipment
- Read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, and BOMs
- Perform basic electrical testing (continuity, multimeter checks, functional test fixtures) to verify repairs
- Document rework performed, failure modes found, and maintain traceability records
- Maintain a clean, ESD-safe workstation and follow safety procedures
- Collaborate with engineering to flag recurring defects or design-for-manufacturability issues
What You'll Bring- 2+ years of hands-on soldering/rework experience in an electronics manufacturing, prototyping, or repair environment
- Proficiency with fine-pitch SMT rework (hot air, soldering iron, possibly BGA rework stations)
- IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
- Comfortable reading schematics, assembly drawings, and BOMs
- Steady hands, strong attention to detail, and good manual dexterity under a microscope
- Familiarity with ESD-safe handling practices
- Basic understanding of electrical/electronic principles (continuity, shorts, opens, polarity)
- Experience with hand tools, multimeters, and basic test equipment
Nice to Have- Experience with cable/harness assembly and crimping
- Exposure to low-volume or prototype manufacturing environments (startup pace)
- Familiarity with conformal coating application and rework
- Basic soldering training/certification instruction experience (if we grow the team)
What we have to offer:We are not just building components. We are reshaping the future of the Aerospace and Defense component industry, which is a $300B+ market! Come join us and help build next generation systems that will make a massive impact at global scale.
