Overview

Due to continued growth, our Data Center Mission Critical Group is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager - Electrical. This role leads and provides direction for the Data Center Mission Critical Electrical Design and Analysis Engineering team of engineers and technical staff designing Data Center greenfield and brownfield projects. This position can be based in the following locations:
  • Atlanta, GA (Kennesaw)
  • Chicago, IL (Naperville)
  • Charlotte, NC
  • Emeryville, CA
  • Remote in the US

Responsibilities

  • Products/Deliverables: Ensure the Engineering Unit staff maintain schedules, budgets and quality of deliverables. Work with Project Managers to define the scope of work. Direct/assign work to the Engineering Unit to balance activities. Assigns Lead Responsible Engineer (LRE). Maintain responsibility for the Unit's quality; establish and enforce quality standards for the Unit through the Work Group Leads and Supervisors. Maintain, update, and execute Unit Continuous Improvement Plans. Accountable for ensuring project budget and schedule are met for Unit's assigned projects. Responsible for the approval of engineering documents produced by the Unit.
  • Leadership and Staff Development: Hire, develop and retain staff. Identify and promote opportunities for site work. Identify and promote training opportunities (ex: owner's groups, manufacturer, professional society). Utilize the review/approval process of deliverables as technical training opportunity for staff. Provide timely and appropriate performance feedback and coaching. Promote professional development (ex: professional license, certifications, and client qualifications). Support, follow, and enforce company policies and procedures. Identify and develop future leaders of the organization. Demonstrate technical leadership, providing resolution to technical issues either through own knowledge or by coordination with Subject Matter Expert. Drive continuous improvement in the organization utilizing the lessons learned and corrective action programs.
  • Business Development: Aggressively support marketing efforts and business planning. Lead proposal preparation with input from discipline supervisors for scope and budget and review final proposals with Project Managers. Develop and maintain professional relationships with client counterparts. 25% Assist with development and execution of business plan development and implementation, market assessment and planning, contract negotiation, product and service development. Attend conferences and meet with clients in person when required.
  • Organizational Support: Responsible for the assignment of engineering resources to projects through Supervisors and Work Group Leads. Maintain short and long range staffing projections based on work projections. Approve timesheets and expense reports of assigned personnel and other direct reports. Conduct annual performance appraisals, appropriately documenting regular performance and ensuring performance on both ends of the spectrum, both positive and negative, is managed effectively.
  • Contribution to Business Goals: Meets applied time goals for self; in addition, ensures that his/her staff meets their applied time goals. #LI-MB1

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree with a minimum 10 year's total experience with 5 years in hyperscale data centers
  • Data Center Electrical Design and Analysis (Short Circuit Coordination/Arc Flash Studies) Expertise
  • PE License required
  • Required to travel up to 20% of the time to client sites (expected to travel at least one time per month) for project and/or marketing meetings.
  • Activities at client sites may require pre-job briefs and walkdowns at the site, including occasional climbing.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills; Comfortable and effective communicator with staff, clients (internal and external), management, etc., choosing the right mode of communication for the situation and relaying the right message.
  • Strong technical writing, attention to detail, and human performance skills.
  • Strong coordination and team building skills; demonstrated ability to work across disciplines, divisions, and teams. Ability to assess and understand team strengths and weaknesses and adjust level of support/oversight as appropriate.
  • Ability to motivate team members and achieve goals through positive, winning attitude and effective leadership style which is consistent with ENERCON's Defining Excellence fundamentals.

Pay Range

USD $175,000.00 - USD $225,000.00 /Yr.
Additional Information

When salary range is listed it reflects typical compensation for this role based on level and location. Actual pay depends on experience, skills, and education.
