How You'll Make an Impact

As an Electrical Engineer, you'll play a critical role in powering the future of our Avon Lake manufacturing operations. In this highly visible position, you'll serve as the site's electrical subject matter expert, leading the design, reliability, and continuous improvement of critical power distribution systems that keep our plant running safely and efficiently. From driving multimillion-dollar capital projects and modernizing electrical infrastructure to enhancing reliability strategies and advancing electrical safety programs, your expertise will directly influence operational performance and long-term site success.

You'll work alongside project engineers, operations leaders, maintenance teams, and global engineering partners to solve complex technical challenges, implement innovative solutions, and deliver meaningful results. In this role you'll:
  • Lead electrical engineering design for capital projects, including power distribution systems, single-line diagrams, motor schematics, motor control center layouts, grounding systems, and lightning protection.
  • Manage electrical-focused capital projects from concept through startup, defining scope, engineering strategy, schedules, budgets, resources, and execution plans.
  • Partner with project engineers, control systems engineers, operations teams, maintenance teams, engineering, procurement, and construction partners, and original equipment manufacturers to deliver safe and reliable project outcomes.
  • Support construction, commissioning, and startup activities for new and upgraded electrical systems.
  • Own and continuously improve the site's electrical model, electrical safety program, and electrical infrastructure reliability strategy.
  • Develop and execute preventive, predictive, repair, and replacement plans for transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, generators, variable frequency drives, motors, and related equipment.
  • Lead annual electrical outages and reliability initiatives to improve asset performance and reduce operational risk.
  • Ensure compliance with Lubrizol engineering standards, electrical safety requirements, and applicable industry regulations.
  • Participate in Process Hazard Analyses, Hazard and Operability Studies, Layers of Protection Analysis reviews, Management of Change activities, Root Cause Failure Analyses, and Failure Modes and Effects Analyses as an electrical subject matter expert.
  • Mentor engineers and technicians while supporting the development of engineering standards and best practices across Lubrizol locations.


Required Qualifications that Enable Your Success
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; power systems emphasis preferred.
  • Seven or more years of electrical engineering experience in chemical manufacturing, oil and gas, refining, steel, automotive, or other industrial environments.
  • Strong knowledge of low-voltage power distribution systems, equipment specification, maintenance practices, and reliability improvement programs.
  • Experience overseeing power system studies, including short-circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flash analysis.
  • Experience planning and leading electrical maintenance outages and shutdown activities.
  • Knowledge of hazardous area classification requirements and electrical safety standards.
  • Demonstrated success working with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Strong communication, technical documentation, project leadership, and problem-solving skills.


Preferred Qualifications that Drive You Forward
  • Professional Engineer license or progress toward licensure.
  • Hands-on experience performing electrical system studies.
  • Experience supporting medium-voltage 4,160-volt power distribution systems.
  • Proven experience leading capital projects in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, Autodesk, and SKM software applications.
