Our Opportunity
We are currently seeking anElectrical Engineerfor ourElectrical Engineering & Computer SciencePractice inMenlo Park, CA. In this role, you will work as part of a team to help our clients solve challenging technical problems which are often urgent, high profile, and multi-disciplinary. You will be involved in a variety of projects with applications such as consumer electronics, appliances, medical devices, electrical infrastructure, and others. You will have the opportunity to define and shape your individual consulting practice based on your skills and interests.
You will be responsible for
- Performing analysis/consulting on a variety of scientific/engineering problems in a variety of electrical/electronic components, products, and systems
- Supporting project areas that include both reactive and proactive issues facing our clients: failure analysis, risk assessment, reliability, design, manufacturing, and others
- Working as an individual contributor as well as in multidisciplinary teams
- Researching and developing novel methodologies to answer cutting-edge scientific- and engineering-based problems
- Participating at every stage of a project lifecycle: scoping and proposals; design of experiments; conducting and supervising tests; collecting and analyzing data; preparing reports; and presenting to clients
- Pursuing business development opportunities
You will have the following skills and qualifications
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field such as Applied Physics or Optics
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in industry or postdoc after completing a Ph.D. is preferred
- Technical focus in electronics, semiconductors, circuits, electromagnetics, power electronics, or related cross-disciplinary areas
- Experience building bench-top or product-level optical systems or building medical devices strongly preferred
- Experience with electrical test equipment, designing, validating and conducting electrical tests, and troubleshooting
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to convey technical conclusions to both technical and non-technical staff in engineering, business, and industry
- Self-starter with strong fundamentals and first-principles thinking, interested in learning about new topics
- Strong desire to help clients with their technical needs
- Presently legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship or processing required

Compensation
Our consultants are rewarded for their technical and business contributions and have an opportunity to plan for future success and career growth. Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent. At the Associate and Senior Associate level, total compensation includes base salary, bi-weekly bonuses for high-intensity efforts, annual bonus and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.
The base salary range for this position is dependent on experience and capabilities which will be assessed during the interview process.
Salary RangeUSD $140,000.00 - USD $154,000.00 /Yr.
